I did STD postcards from Vista Print and on the back wrote the following:

Hello Family & Friends,

As you know, we are finally tying the knot after seven years together! We have decided to do a destination wedding in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico which will (hopefully!) double as a wedding celebration and a relaxing vacation.

We are sending this notice to give you plenty of time to budget and make travel arrangements, should you decide to join us in Mexico. We completely understand if you are unable to join us due to the travel required and associated costs.

Please use our wedding website (timandange.com) as an information resource and a way to communicate with us. We will keep it updated with the latest information regarding the wedding and all associated events.

We hope that you will be able to join us for this special celebration and look forward to spending an unforgettable vacation with you and our closest family and friends.

Love,

Tim & Ange

We did the following message on the back of our photo Christmas cards next to our STD magnets:

Merry Christmas!

We are happy to announce that after ten years of being together, we are finally getting married and have decided to have our wedding in Key West, Florida on June 26, 2010. We hope you will be able to join us for our wedding celebration weekend.

We are letting everyone know now so that there is plenty of time to budget and make travel arrangements. We completely understand if you are unable to join us due to travel, costs or other conflicts.

Please check our website for travel and wedding details as they continue to unfold.

Wishing you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

lots of love,

julie & frank

We didn't do a letter, but I think it sounds like a great touch. Along with the STD card, we also included our wedding website on a little business card (thank you, vistaprint) where the guest could go for additional information as well as our "welcome and come to our wedding" pitch.... We also included the travel agent's list about the hotel along with sample prices so people had a good idea of what it would cost. We had three main ones made up - from Chicago (close to my family), from NY (his family), and DC (where we live). That way, depending on where the guest lived, we sent them the closest price sheet.

This is what we used -- it was included inside our passport invitations:

The journey of our love began on the beaches of the Atlantic Ocean. We find it fitting to have our wedding there as well. We look forward to sharing our day with those who can join us. It is our hope that you hear the sound of the ocean as loudly as we hear wedding bells.

Although it would be fantastic to have all of our loved ones there as witnesses, we understand that limitations exist. For those who are unable to join us, it is our hope that you look south on our special day and say a prayer, wishing us well as we begin our new lives together.

Hope this helps!`

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
