Maui Activities

What activities do you guys have planned for your trip?

Nick & I want to have a few things planned and we're going to invite anyone who wants to join us. But there's so much to do! It's so hard getting it down to just a couple of activities. We were considering ziplining, snorkeling at Black Rock, the Haleakala bike tour, Maui ocean center, etc! Too much to chose from :)

For our guest, we are really only planning two events: a Welcome to the Island BBQ and the Molokini Snorkel Tour. The majority of our guest want to spend their time snorkeling while in Maui so it worked out. We practically have the whole boat booked!

Everyone has their own agendas and I want them to feel free to do what they'd like while there. Even though I'd love to plan more for everyone, it's alot of work coordinating so many people! I put in our OOT Newsletter a list of activities that they can do while on the island and I will leave it up to them. :)

Not to add to the decisions but there is also kayaking/snorkel tours that look cool too!

I know..Lori is great! She's really been helpful!

For your Molokoni snorkel tour, who are you using?

I wanted to do a welcome BBQ too. I just couldn't figure out the timeline in my head b/c most people are probably flying in the day before the wedding and we couldn't decide whether to cook the food ourselves or have it catered. But it would be so much more convenient, money-wise.

The only thing that we did as a group was snorkel. For the people that didn't bring their own snorkel equipment, we went next door to a dive shop & rented it for like $7.00 for the week. We then just went to different spots that were recommended to us. It was so much better than doing a tour IMHO, b/c we didn't have to be on the schedule of the tour company. We did Black Rock & it is awesome, def a MUST!!! We drove over & parked in the Whaler's Village garage & spent the afternoon snorkeling & just lounging on Kaanapali Beach (which is fantastic BTW.) There are so many amazing places to snorkel on Maui & by renting or bringing your own snorkel equip, you can see them all. Good luck with your planning!!

For the Snorkel tour, we decided to use Maui Classic Charters Four Winds II. We orginally wanted to use the Pacific Whale Foundation, but they don't have an afternoon snorkel. We are having our tour the day after the wedding, and I doubt many will want to get up early! LOL Plus, it has a glass bottom so the folks that don't snorkel, and the smaller kids, could go.

We are having the BBQ on the day when most folks are flying in also. We are actually lucky because most of the flights coming in the from the West Coast into Maui arrive in the early afternoon, so anyone arriving that day will be able to attend.

Were were going to do the BBQ ourselves, but we decided to use Da Kitchen Hawaiian Cafe. The prices are reasonable and it will keep us from doing too much work! We'll get the main stuff, like Kalua Pork and Terriyaki, from them and supplement it with other things like Mac salad, veggies, chips, and fruit.

Here is their website: Parties/Functions

Most of our guests snorkeled and most of the guys that joined us went for a surf lesson in Lahaina.

We threw a bbq for our guests as well as a luau. Some of us went on a helicopter tour and went up to the crater etc etc. There really is alot to do there!

We basically decided what me and hubby wanted to do, and then extended an invite to everyone if they wanted to join us or not.

Good timing. I just emailed Maui Charters tonight to see how far in advanced I'd need to charter a boat for my guests. We're going with the Four Winds too...and hoping to enjoy this BBQ/beer that they offer onboard!! =) da.schmoopies, you'll have to let us know how it goes...only a month left till your wedding!!

Because my wedding is on a Saturday, I suspect most people will fly in Friday...which makes a welcome event a bit tough. But it is nice for people to get to know each other. What do you think? Should I do it anyway?

Yeah, we worked it so that we are arriving about three days before the majority of the rest of the guest show up. Figured it would give us enough time to do all our coordination and then be able to relax and have fun with everyone!

I thought the Welcome Party was a good way to get everyone together besides just the wedding day. Plus, I'm giving them their OOT bags at the party.

I'll totally review Maui Charters when I get back. LESS than a month until we leave. I can't wait for the vacation. LOL

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
