Help-Mexico in August: suggestions?

I was looking at Sayulita and Puerto Vallarta, but more and more places are discouraging an August event. Playa Fiesta in PV even closes in August due to rainy season!? Eek!

I need other suggestions. Let me know what you think! We do not want a big hotel. We are looking for a casual, beach hotel with 40 rooms or less. Thanks!

August is rough in Mexico. Even if you don't get rain, the weather will most likely be humid and uncomfortable. Tulum is on the other coast and has lots of little boutique hotels. The beach is much nicer than in Sayulita. The two larger hotels are Mil Amores and Blue Tulum. Mil Amores has 24 rooms. Blue Tulum has 72 rooms, but is also the only place in town with air conditioning.

I just got married in Akumal which is on the east coast. The hotel only has 21 rooms, but they also have 20-30 little bungalows. the beach is really nice! They clean it every single night and the reef closes in the bay so there are big waves, there is great snorkeling. The staff was the best service EVER! and its a small quaint little town.

Check out my review and pics. The hotel site is Hotel Akumal Caribe

MarieSam was also recently married in Akumal.

Tulum is cute as well

The hotel in Akumal doesn't close during hurricane season but the restaurant owned by the hotel closes at the end of August for the hurricane season

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
