Hi all,

My name is Crystal and I just got engaged on August 14. I want to have a destination wedding but I am having a hard time getting any info on them from the travel agencies because they are so busy with the weddings this fall. I would like to be married fall 2011 or I was hoping someone on here could tell me what the best months are for weather in the dominican or cuba. I have been leaning more towards Punta Cana. If anyone has any good or bad info for me please please let me know.... I am so lost haha...

If you could tell me all about your experiences and some tips I would appreciate it so so much.

Thank you

Crystal

Typically they say that July-Oct is the rainy season - but I wouldn't base your decision completely on that! I had a January wedding & completely got rained out, and Punta Cana did the week before that! So I say book whenever is convenient for you & your guests! You will find an abundance of information on both DR & Cuba here - search to your hearts content!!

Happy Planning & welcome4.gif to the best destination wedding forum ever!!!!

I have planned my wedding for Oct 19th, 2010 at the Majestic Colonial, Punta Cana. I have done lots of research and I picked October for many reasons:

1. Date far enough out for people to save $ to go.

2. Oct is still technically hurricane season but RARELY does it happen in Oct (usually if at all it happens in Sept).

3. Temperatures are between 24 to 30 degrees Celsius (coldest to hottest)

4. Ocean is still warm from the summer months.

5. Oct is not a popular month to travel so flights are usually cheaper.

From what I understand, 2009 in the Domincan Rep for weddings has been crazy (because of the swine flu). A lot of Mexican weddings were canceled so brides booked up the Dom. Rep. So if you are having a hard time hearing back from the wedding coordinators or travel agents - don't panic. They are just crazy busy with this seasons weddings.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
