My best advice as you start down the road to your wedding day would be just to take your time and do lots of research before you book or buy anything (attire, flowers, you name it!) and make sure it's all that you've envisioned for your BIG DAY!

And that's where this phenomenal site comes in: BDW has proven to be invaluable in my planning, and it's comforting to know that there are other brides and grooms out there experiencing the same highs and lows during their planning process -- a friend is always just on the other side of your computer screen!

CONGRATULATIONS and Welcome to BDW...it's a wedding-planning heaven!
I love everything you just wrote!! And totally agree!! Take your time choosing--no need to rush! Family were starting to get on me and irritate me with the details, but I wanted to make sure I scoped every last place out--we only get to do this once!! We changed countries and hotels I don't know how many times, but now I am soooo happy with our decision and don't second guess it one bit!!!! :) :)
I like your last comment to about having other people here to listen whos going through the same stuff! That is really awesome--it kinda reminds me of being in nursing school...I'd complain to FI about it and he'd offer support, but didn't really get the same thing as when talking to other classmates about it--cuz they understood, ya know? Planning a destination wedding is lots different than traditional at home wedding, I think so there aren't too many people who can offer advice....yeah BDW!!!

Hello and congrats! I live in NY too and was fortunate enough to have gone to Bermuda in July and found it to be one of my most favorite islands. Although I did not decide to have my DW there because I was looking for an all inclusive to suit my family and friends, our wish was to have it there. The flight duration from NY is about 1hr and a half which is great. Bermuda is super romantic and has the most strikingly beautiful blue water. You can't rent a car in Bermuda so it's either you cab, bus or moped it. Mopeding it with my FI exploring the island was the best. I stayed on the West End of the island which is very layed back and I feel less touristy. I stayed at 9Beaches Resort which has cabana's in the water is an Eco Friendly resort. It was kind of roughing it but I wanted a different experience. I also visitied Cambridge Beaches for dinner and Fairmont Princess in Southhampton for a massage both very nice resorts. The only thing I have to say that's a little bit negative about Bermuda is that it is kind of expensive.

thanks all! for anyone who's been to bermuda or has explored it as a venue, I'm looking for opinions. (I apologize in advance if I should be posting this somewhere else on the Forum - I'm not too good at this yet). Anyways, has anyone looked at Pink Beach Club, The Reefs, 9 Beaches, Coco Reef or Tucker's Point Hotel? I'd love input from anyone on your thoughts on any of those places!

My fiance and I are pretty laid back, so we don't need anything incredibly formal or conventional, but we do want to be able to customize the event as much as possible - the food, the decor, the drinks - everything. The other major thing is that we want out guests - probably 30 people or so - to be comfortable and well attended to, so great service/staff (and comfortable rooms) are very important. If anyone has a recommendation on where might be the best fit for us, I'd love the feedback!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
