Silk flowers or Order from the hotels florist?

Recommended Posts

that is the debate I am having too! I have 8 bridesmaids so either way it will not be cheap. My stepmom and cousin are both florists, so I was thinking order the flowers and have them make the bouquets at the hotel, but then is only a little cheaper to get the fake back at home but they will last forever. hmmm what to do?

After getting quotes on flowers from florists and wedding coordinators in Playa del Carmen, I decided to have all boutonnieres, centerpieces and my bouquet made. Since our wedding is pretty small (approximately 30 guests), all the floral arrangements can be packed in a suitcase. I am very pleased with the silk flowers and would rather use the savings for entertainment/food.

I am in the same position. Does anyone know if Cancun has a flower market type of place?? I am thinking of making my centerpeices and bridesmaids flowers. For the centerpeices I was going to go to the Walmart there and finds cute vases and wrap some ribbon around them and add flowers...what do you all think?

I had silk ... the natural touch from Roberta from Plumeria. I loved, loved, loved my flowers!!! We had 9 bouts, 5 bm bouquets, 3 mother wrist bracelets, and my bouquet!! Simply wonderful and my bouquet is sitting in a vase right now looking brand new. I can't begin to tell you how many compliments we got on the flowers! Our photographer was setting them to take pictures and even touching them, he didn't believe they were fake! Had to actually show him the wire at the very bottom, in the center of the stems! He was shocked! I can't recommend Roberta enough! She was so, so easy to work with and patient with me as I changed my mind a couple times! Here is the website ...

Some of our flowers are in the Tropical Dreams album under the Bridal Portfolio tab on the left. Our flowers are slide number 8 (as of today 9.23)! My flowers were packed in my carry on to and from Mexico and looked jsut as good for our at home reception as they did when they arrived here! So worth it and they're still alive ... 3 months later! Hope this helps gals! :)

Real touch is the way to go! They look so real, and are so inexpensive in comparison, but you wouldn't really be able to tell the difference in photos, either, AND you get to keep them as a keepsake! I'm all for it, plus it's the eco-friendly thing to do, in my opinion. Also, you can tailor the bouquet exactly the way you envision, and they won't wilt in the heat! :)

There are some great websites online, like

so good luck, and hope it turns out great!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
