we chose Molokia, Hawaii because we were not flexible on our wedding date (anniverary) and September is hurricane season in the Carribean and Coastal Florida and b/c of some family members limitations we need to stay in US Territory and most of all b/c it is unique, luxurious, an adventure and our group can buy out the whole lodge for 4 days!

We chose Ocho Rios, Jamaica because

1. We have not been there before, neither have most of our guests

2. It will be affordable for almost all the guests

3. There are so many things you can do in Ocho Rios

We chose Couples Ocho Rios because

1. It is more reasonable than Sandals

2. It is couples only since there will be no kids in our group

3. We will be able to reserve their private island for the day and customize our wedding more

4. Their service can't be beat

5. Even all the excursions are included

We both knew we wanted a destination wedding and we both love the beach (although we want to be married in a church) so that narrowed it down at first. We looked at Casa de Campo in the Dominican and also other islands in the Caribbean but we were finding that it was very expensive. So we narrowed it down even further to Mexico. It is still relatively less expensive compared to the Caribbean and the people are very helpful and friendly. Cabo was out because my FI brother got married there so we decided on Puerto Vallarta. I did all kinds of research and was getting ready to finalize our booking at Playa Fiesta in PV but it didn't seem right. We really love the Caribbean beaches and waters so we chose the east coast of Mexico instead. Plus it was cheaper to fly to for our guests (mine are from Ohio, his are from DC and Ecuador). I don't really prefer Cancun (too touristy) and Tulum would be great but we thought it would be too far for the guests to travel once they arrived at the ariport. So Playa del Carmen was in the middle and that is how we picked our location. Neither of us has been there but we are going down in two weeks for a site visit. Hopefully we will find our perfect place!!

We chose Jamaica for a few reasons:

1. Neither of us had ever been to the Caribbean and really REALLY wanted to see the beautiful Aqua blue waters!

2. Jamaica had always been one of those places on our "must see" list,

3. We have a very well-traveled group of family and friends who had been to the Mayan Riviera, Dominican, and Cuba, but none had been to Jamaica so we wanted it to be a special getaway for everyone.

4. It turned out be more affordable than we thought! cheesy.gif

we chose cabo after going to a friends wedding there earlier this summer. it was beautiful and small (something we wanted). i have a very large family and knew i wouldn't have to invite everyone to a DW. we haven't booked out location yet but are leaning towards dreams because it seems like it would be the most cost effective for us and some many others have had beautiful weddings there! :)

Iberostar Punta Cana in the Dominican Repubilc.

I can't wait! 9 more months. Seems like forever but at the same time, I have SO much stuff to do!

We picked it because Punta Cana is absolutely GORGEOUS. The ocean looks like something out of my wildest dreams/fantasies/movies.

It truly is paradise on Earth!

We looked at many different places. We orginally wanted Zihuatenajo, but the plane tickets shot up in price after we returned from our sie visit so we nixed that. Cabo was a consideration, but we couldn't get any of the dates we wanted. We've been to the Mayan Riviera before and we love it. Dreams Tulum had a date we liked, so we decided on that.

We picked Jamaica because it was the most affordable and quickest flight from Philly... we booked this about 7 months out, so wanted the cheapest place for friends and family on a tight budget to work out... we actually got engaged in Cabo, but didn't love it (I got sick) and the flight is a bit longer from the East Coast! We wanted to get married in a place neither of us have been, and although I went to Negril 5 years ago (and LOVED it!), I talked him into Jamaica, only a totally different part. Stayed in the Montego Bay area for easier transfers from airport to hotel. Ended up at Iberostar Rose Hall because they're fairly new and would do a Sunday wedding!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
