Hi everyone,

I just have a quick question. My bridesmaids are wearing turquoise dress, and we will all have pink, hot pink and white flowers.

My question is what type of makeup should I wear? Especially on my eyes, I have no idea what colour to go for. I want to keep it fairly neutral with a bit of shimmer.

I am going to do my own makeup as I don't trust someone I have never met before to do it.

Has anyone else done their own makeup?

Thanks for the replies :)

I am doing my own makeup also and I think if you want something nutral you should do browns, like a deep chestnut in your crease, a nice medium brown on your lid and highlight with a light tan w/shimmer. It would add just enough ummph to make you look made up but not overly done. You could also us a highlighter outside your eyes & on the high parts of your cheekbones for some shimmer. I would go to makeup counters and play around. I wear Mary Kay so you could always see if a Mary Kay lady will come and show you different options applied.

Good Luck!

I think generally what your wearing really doesn't have anything to do with your makeup.. I would wear makeup that pulls out your features, like your skin color and the color of your eyes. And wear something that you would normally wear b/c you want to look like YOU on your wedding day

Hey Angela, I'm planning on doing my own makeup too... and my colors are the same as yours! wink.gif

My plan is to go to a nice make-up counter (still trying to figure out which one!) and have them do my make-up for me one day. Maybe I'll find an inspiration photo, but mostly just tell them what I'm thinking & give them creative freedom. Then I'll buy the products they used and learn how to apply it like a pro. Like you I'm a little nervous about having someone do it for me on the big day.

I did my own makeup for my wedding also. I think a good starting point would be to go to your local MAC/Sephora/whichever store you're comfortable going to and ask one of the makeup ladies there for ideas and suggestions that would best suit your coloring. I did this at Sephora and purchased the makeup that the lady recommended and I was very happy with the results. I don't think you necessarily have to match your makeup to what your BMs are wearing unless you really want to. You're the bride and you can have your makeup look however you want it to look, that's the best part about being a bride! :)

YAY for MK Annette!!! I'm a Mary Kay girl myself too! :)

Kathy - where is that makeup thread you had?? There were a bunch of tips there, right?? I know I posted about the whole "careful of shimmery eye shadow" thing. In the meantime, I'll try & find it!

FYI...Kathy (aka squiggle star Kathy star squiggle) it's very hard to search using your name...I didn't know there were so many little symbols involved! rofl.gif

I'm doing my own makeup. I've been stocking up on products for the past couple of months and doing lots of research. I just bought some grey shadows today so I'm going to try those out for the next month and see how I like them. I agree that you should go talk to someone to ask about your coloring etc. Just be careful about going to a place that has one brand (i.e. MAC) because not every brand is great at everything and you want to make sure you use quality products, i.e. my makeup so far is a mixture of like 5-6 different brands.

I won't repeat what everyone else has already said because it's great advice but I recommend going easy on the shimmer as that someone looks funny in pictures. Trying getting HD makeup and nothing light reflecting so you don't look shiney in all the photographs.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
