Question - may seem dumb but....

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone! I need guidance....I'm pretty much planning my wedding on my own..my fiance lives in Tennessee and he's extremely busy so really, he has very little to no input on our wedding plans or just says he knows I have great taste and that I can just make the decisions, so here's my question -

We want to take a cruise to Grand Cayman to get married. I've done research (lots and lots of it!!) and have narrowed it down. It fits our schedules perfectly, etc. Now, since we're planning an April, 2010 wedding. Would you book your WC who is taking care of every single detail except for the cruise first or would you book your cruise first? I wonder because it's so far out and I'm sure there will be something available in a month or so when I book it?

Seems silly, I know but I have my money tied up in all the deposits for the arrangements that we made to get married in Florida (then changed our minds a couple of weeks ago). PLUS, I'm still waiting on my FI to decide (for sure) that he wants to have a wedding with just him and I without any family or friends. So, what would you do? Wedding Coordinator in Grand Cayman first and cruise second or vice versa? My head is just swimming right now!

TIA!!

I would probably do the cruise because I'd be worried that I would plan everything around it & the cruise would be booked at that point. But, I've never looked at cruises, so I'm not sure how many are available to Grand Cayman.

I'm getting married in Grand Cayman and the one thing that my WC always mentions is how small they are and there aren't as many vendors, so to try to book things early. I nailed down the date about 1 month ago and things were booking up (hotels, photographers, etc.). So if you use vendors on the island, your first or second choice may be booked.

So I would probably contact the WC and make sure they're free. But I'm not sure which one to actually book first... I think it can also depend on guests. If you have a good amount, you may want to start to look into tickets because I believe people plan out vacations a while in advance.

Good luck and let me know if you need any info on Grand Cayman vendors!

I would book the cruise first because obviously getting there is more important than the flowers and decor. :) I didn't really utilize my WC much until the final months. At least for me, all that stuff wasn't taken care of until the final moments. Many brides change their ideas several times in the planning process.

Good luck!

Thanks for your advice everyone!! I decided that the cruise was the most important...now I need to book my WC so that I know I will have an officiant to marry me lol. :) The WC was sooooo great and she "penciled" me in so that I would be able to book her after I booked the cruise so yipee!! lol I feel SO good right now - like everything is on the right track!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
