Interesting "Internet Bride Friends" Article

I always thought we were BDW'ers. wink.gif

Anyways, I think I'm in the minority here, but while I do recognize all of us in that article, I felt the author was kinda poking fun at it in a sense. I mean- outside of those of us in the "know" of what it's really like, I think others that read the article will be like "WTF? wackos." The examples used kinda make it seem stupid and frivolous. haha just my opinion though.

I do love the forum- obviously. I was married a year and a half ago and helloooo I'm still here. I'm just not lovin the article as much because I kinda feel like the author was kinda pulling a mean girls- a la "wow your skirt is cute" in a sarcastic way. I could be way off, so don't let me spoil your fun. Just my reading of it. :)

haha boy- I need to stop lurking in the shadows. wink.gif Or you need to check out more TV and book threads Kristy. haha

It just needs a rewrite and someone needs to give this chick some good material. Like how Ann had baby Gwen in Cali and the forum pitched a bunch of money together to help her out with stuff.. like travel, food, clothing, etc while she was there.

Or how many of our members actually HAVE attended weddings of others- in a DW. That's cooler.

Or how many get togethers and meet ups occur so it's not longer "strangers" or wonder if we are all 14 yr old boys. WTF was that one? haha. That thought has NEVER crossed my mind.

Great article Yael!

I like it....I just sent it to my DH and said to him "see I am not so crazy after all!" he responded back with "No, I'm pretty sure you are still crazy. This is just the tip of the iceberg!" ugh that little snot face! censored.gif oh well :)

I think the reason we all bond on here so much is not only are brides in a different mind-set than the rest of the population, but destination brides are kind of the "outcasts" of the bridal world. We get criticized for making guests spend too much money, being selfish, etc. So not only do the BDW members help with wedding planning, but they get why we want to get married away somewhere. My best friend got married two months after me and we barely talked about our weddings to each other because we just couldn't relate to each other. Thank goodness for BDWers!

Well said Kristy! I was just talking with one of my newly engaged friends yesterday who is just starting to plan her "normal" wedding (as she stated to me)...ugh...she said to me several times in this convo we were having that she has to have hers in Denver because "she doesn't want to MAKE people pay to travel to her wedding" took a lot out of me not to make a not so nice comment back...ugh!

I would have loved to because I def think that article needed more of an insider's look. Unfortunately, I'm too busy these days.

But just in case some of the newer girls have no idea what I'm talking about in regards to Ann and baby Gwen- here's one of the threads that are about the gift sent: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t21494

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
