Hi everyone,

I was planning on getting married in September but have heard that it is hurricane season in DR during sept and october. anyone have any suggestions on when to go? how is novmebers weather? does a particular month tend to be more expensive than others?

also-- i have read that it can get pretty cool in the DR during november/december. does anyone have any information on this?

also-- i know that aruba is very windy and it would be hard to get married right by the water without getting "blown away".. i have never been to DR, therefore any information is greatly appreciated. thank you so much!!!!

If you go to Welcome to Weather Underground : Weather Underground and click on "history data" in the menu at the top you can find out what the weather has usually been like on your wedding day in the previous years.. So say if your wedding was to be on September 1st, 2010 the site can tell you if there has been any hurricanes/thunderstorms etc on sept 1st, 2009 and earlier... It also gives you the temperature by the hour, which I found helpful as I tried to pick a ceremony time where it wasn't super hot and there was little chance of rain..

Sorry for rambling! Hope this helps :)

Well what I can tell you is its all luck and you can't plan it..I was in Mexico 2 yrs ago in Oct and it was hurricane season, and the 2 weeks prior to our arrival was downpoars straight..and the week that we left was also rain..but the week that we were there was amazing and not a day of rain..I have been in two weddings in December..and you're from NY so you know how our winters can be and both were like in the 60's i even remember being outside without a jacket.

But in regards to cheaper months I found out (unfortunately after we booked our date) that the cheapest is the summer starting from may and the 1st 2 weeks of december..but then you can run the risk of flight delays because of snow we might have at home..so basically pick the date you feel best with and pray to the weather gods for the best lol

oh and by the way..I had never been to the DR before this summer, we went because everyone was telling us its the cheapest for all inclusives and i want it to be cheapest for guests but yet find a beautiful place, i first wanted aruba but its really expensive.

So we went down for a week a month ago to just check out a few hotels..punta cana was 1000 times nicer then what i thought it would be and i have been to almost every island, beaches are beautiful and the people were so friendly..its really nice..i saw a bunch of hotels and ended up booking the one we did on the spot when we were there because i just loved it so much..but if there are any you are considering message me and i can give you my opinion if its one that I had checked out..not that it means much lol but its still an opinion :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
