Hurricane

Recommended Posts

I would just say bring some candles and flash lights. I know you will be at a Resort, but when Ike ( a Category 2) hit Houston last year we were with out power for 5-7 days and people who were outside the city were with out power for longer. And you have to think we were in the States, so you just don't know how long it will take the Meixcan Gov't to get it fix. I am not trying to be the bear of bad news, but I am just trying to perpare you. I am praying for you that Cabo is not on the right side of the eye (the dirty side) when the hurricane makes land fall.

Hey girl...

I saw this post and alllll the feelings i had around our wedding came rushing back to me....We also got married in Cabo right around the time that Hurricae Norbert was supposed to hit. I was beyond stressed and I swear, i became a "hurricane tracking" expert...lol.

I emailed my WC @ Riu Palace and Suzanne Morel constantly and they really didn't seem to be all that concerned (which in hindsight was good, because i didn't get worked up)...Cabo RARELY gets directly hit with hurricanes (not like the Mayan side), I was told they usually feel the after effects.

The day we arrived, we had a pretty bumpy landing and the weather was rainy, windy & over cast but the next day when we woke up, the sun was shining and it was beautiful for the rest of the week! PLUS, the resort wasn't as busy as it would have been because i think some ppl cancelled due to Norbert.

Here is the thread I posted about the hurricane around my wedding (It's good to read because the locals really put it into perspective for me....)

when i heard of this hurricane, i immediately thought "oh i hope no BDW brides are having their wedding this week!" see, i love my BDW girls!

It is supposed to hit early tomorrow morning then after that, it should be cleared up but it depends on how fast they get electricity back on.

When Ike hit Houston, it took a week for the power to get back for our house.

So I am praying that it will be a different story for your resort!!!

Yes, I too am freaking out and stalking this storm through every website imaginable. Although our wedding isn't until April 2010, we are supposed to head to Cabo tomorrow for a site visit. I know that they closed the airport this morning and am just waiting for the storm to hit to see if we will still be able to depart tomorrow (or at all). We may need to cancel our trip, which is a huge bummer to think about since I wanted to get all of my details nailed down while we were there. Keeping my fingers crossed...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
