Americans in Cuba? At all?

Recommended Posts

Just a tip...and this is information that I recieved from the Cuban consulate...if you are flying using a passport from a country that DOES NOT have an embassy in Cuba (ie. the United States), your passport must be valid for 2 months beyond your departure date from Cuba.

I work for federal law enforcement and Cuba is still listed as a hostile country so even if you were to travel there we very cautious and I wouldnt do much venturing away from the resort.

Wow.

For anyone and EVERYONE that has every considered going to Cuba:

It is beautiful. The people are amazing. Don't trust every piece of propaganda... Just read the reviews, and don't act like an asshole-- a safe principal when travelling to ANY foreign territory. It's EXACTLY the same idea as travelling to Mexico. Seriously wow.gif

I'm a Scot who is seriously considering a destination wedding in Cuba however my partners parents would like to holiday in the US and then fly over for a few days for the wedding, would this be possbile at all? Also we would like a twin centre holiday perhaps Cuba and then onto Vegas for Honeymoon, would this be possible?

Possible yes, but you will have to fly from Cuba to another country then to the USA. There are no direct flights as Americans are not allowed to freely travel to Cuba yet.

lol... It's one of the safest countries I've visited and I've been to some dark-dark places.

I have known people that have gone with no problem, but it is a total gamble and considered illegal. Unless you get a visa for education or work.
So much for democracy you have there :)

Cuba is so safe! I feel WAY safer there than in Jamaica, Mexico or the DR. You can go off resort no problem...even at night. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming. Another thing I like is that no one bugs you to buy things on the beach, unlike other places I have been. The safe & welcoming feeling is why we love it so much and chose it for our wedding.

When I was there there a few years ago there actually were a couple Americans who flew through Canada. They just asked not to get their passport stamped so the US government wouldn't know they were there.

I 2nd you on this one. I just got back from a very remote part of Cuba, and I have never felt so safe and welcome anywhere I have travelled. Cuba is one of my favourite islands to travel to.

Cuba is one of the safest countries you can visit. Think about it, how many tourists have you heard about being murdered in Cuba?? ZERO! How many have you heard about in Mexico?? Several (Just 1 is too many...anyone remember the couple from Woodbridge, Ontario that were murdered in their room in their 5 star resort in Mexico)

When we were looking for a destination, Cuba was our #1 choice. We knew our guests would be safe there, and have an amazing vacation. I have an aunt and uncle flying to Cuba from NY. They're meeting us in Toronto, and then we're all flying together. I don't anticipate any problems!

    • Hi Everyone, So, I was cleaning out my closet and realized that I never sold off my extra wedding OOT bag stuff from our wonderful DW.   46 Daily Spanish for Dummies 30 Pool colored OOT fabric bags - approximately 13in x 13in. They lay flat.  I used them for our wedding and they were perfect for everything we needed to fit in each bag. There’s a slight shade variation in the group; I’m guessing some were cut from a different bolt of fabric.  They are also a little wrinkled from storage and will probably be wrinkled from shipping. I have three additional ones, but they somehow got something on them (likely toddler related). If needed, I can try to wash it out and send those as well.
    • I’m getting married in six months to my foreign girlfriend. I was advised by a friend that one of the things I need to do before saying I do is to get a prenuptial agreement. Basically it’s supposed to protect my assets and properties in case my relationship with my future wife goes down the drain. I don’t know though if this is an acceptable practice when marrying Kiev ladies. I don’t want to do it if it would be insulting on her end. I need advice on this. Please help me.
    • So we are currently looking for an all inclusive resort for the wedding. We have 60 guests and found all the Dreams resorts as options and all of them gave us a quote and discounted price since it’s off season etc. Resorts in Punta Canta gave us a reasonable price, Dominicus gave us a really good deal then La Romana Resort and Spa gave us their regular price and so hard to negotiate. Will someone tell us how special is this resort that they won’t give us a good discount when all my guests are staying in their resort for 5-8 days. We are bringing $$$ in their resort and not give us a discount?  What is so special with this resort?  Can somebody recommend a beautiful resort?
