They're nice to have, but I definitely don't think they're necessary. We didn't have them taken and I don't feel like I missed out on anything. If they were free, yeah, I'd do them, but I wouldn't be super disappointed if I didn't get to take them.

That's the route we are taking...we are not going to take them because we'll be doing TTD.

If the pics are free, then go for it!!

Hey ladies,

I know my FI doesn't want to - but I told him he can get a new outfit out of it, and I have been buttering him up slowly. I think he's coming around, he just doesn't understand the concept and doesn't know how lucky we are to have a talented photog (freelance) as a close friend who is willing to do this for free. Even if I get 1 hour out of him I'm sure we could get quite a few nice ones. I think you guys are right, he's just going to have to suck it up. I'm really not a demanding person, so I think he should feel lucky that I'm not asking for much - and I'm planning almost the entire thing! Thanks for the support.

I was in the exact same situation! A good friend of ours istrying to build her business and add to her portfolio so she offered to do them for free. If we like her work, she wants to do our wedding photos as well since she'll be a guest at our wedding. We just met with yesterday and did some really fun shots around downtown and in a park by the river. Since she is a friend, she was so easy to work with and we were completely comforatable. She sent me a few "previews" today and they are SO fantastic! I am SO glad we did them. They are absolutely worth it!!

How can you turn down free?! wink.gif

I felt the same way, what's the point? Right until my photographer told me he'd throw mine in for free as well... then I said, what the heck!

I did mine yesterday in Downtown LA, 104 degree heat inside Union Station, no AC. So it was uncomfortable but I had SO much fun I'm shocked at how amazing the experience is. It's photos of us young and in our 20's I'm going to love showing my kids and grandkids one day and it was free.

I say if you can convince him to just have fun with it then definitely go for it!

I just had ours done and am getting married in 2 months. So there is not right or wrong time to do them.

My FI 1000000% did not want to do them. He hates having pictures taken.

I just signed us up anyways then promised him that it would take about an hour, we photographed them near our house, basically as easy and as little work for him as possible. He "tried" to just get through it during the shoot and was pretty miserable about it the whole time and when it ended told me there was NO WAY he would do a TTD now. That is all I get.

BUT THEN WE GOT THE PICS and.........

He freaking loved them, and is now excited for the wedding pics and TTD. So it was painful but well worth it :)

LOL!!! I am having the same argument with my FI, I showed him some TTD shots yesterday and his response was "we are NOT doing that! I don't want the whole vacation to be a photo shoot" little does he know that we ARE doing it, but I think getting him to do ttd and engagement is a little much. If your FI is anything like mine then he will probably be reluctant to do both, but maybe because they are so far apart and it is FREE then he will be amenable to it. IDK the new outfit bribe is brilliant! Just keep saying how happy it will make you and he will come around.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
