Some background info - my FI and I have been engaged since December and due to our busy schedules we decided to wait to get married until June 2010. I never really considered getting engagement photos until I saw so many nice ones on here. My friend has offered to do them for free for us (she's also shooting our wedding), my FI REALLY doesn't want to do them...he thinks it's pointless and doesn't get that maybe I just want some nice pictures of us...I am starting to wonder if it is even worth the fight if he's not going to enjoy the experience...Ugh, so I want opinions - are they worth it or should I just give up and wait for the wedding photos (YES - I will MAKE him do lots then, even the TTD!).

I think if you are getting them for free its definitely worth it, I wasn't going to do them but my photog offered to include them with our package. When else do you get nice professional pictures of you and your FI? I figure we might never have this chance again so I am taking it!!

awww, I think you should go for it! It would be a missed opportunity, especially since your friend graciously is doing it for free! it isn't every day that people get to have pictures taken like that, and especially to capture the moment of that small amount of time that you guys are actually FI's, to share the moment! Why not show him some nice pictures of other engagement photos, so that he doesn't feel like he's getting a sears portrait, and explain how special it could be to have later on, if you want to show your future family! Plus, you can make it tailored to you, it doesn't have to be anything besides what you two want it to be!

I am currently trying to convince my FI as well!

I would just love to have some natural photos of the two of us, not all dressed up in wedding gear, just the two of us in a romantic place. I just think when I am older I will love to have those photos from when we were young, natural and in love.

My FI and I are all about compromise with this wedding. If he does something from my list, I will have to do something from his list that I wasn't too crash hot on. So for the engagement photos - we will be getting them done, but I also have to organise footy jerseys for the bridal party boys and my FI and FFIL and FOB (FI is a massive footy head).

I would say go for it, engagement pics are a great way to document your relationship/love but best of all they allow you a "practice session" before the big day. FI and I had never taken pro pics before and having an engagement session was a great way for us to work out all the kinks and uncomfortableness of being affectionate in front of the camera. In the end I think it really helped us look natural in our wedding pics. It's also a great way to get a feel for how your photog works wink.gif

I say considering that your friend would do them as well as your wedding, I say go for it. Mainly so that you learn how she shoots and directs you, but also so you can have some photos for maybe your guest book or some people have done the table numbers with a photo of the couple on each table. But of course it's nice to have some photos in your home that aren't all wedding photos. :-)

I would definitely go for it! Especially if they are free, luckily I'm getting 2 sessions one in spring and one in fall since my photog is putting it in my package and we have a long engagement to get both seasons in! You can get some pretty awesome pics out of it that you'll love to have and you can even put them in with your invites if you wanted as well.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
