Sand Dollar Ornaments/Favours - Opinion Requested

Recommended Posts

I was thinking of giving sand dollars as a favour, it will have our names on it and the date of the wedding, I will bead the ribbon and this will double as a christmas ornament if anyone wants. What do you think of the idea? Here are some pictures from other brides, what does everyone think?

I think they are adorable! For me, I'd be worried about them breaking during travel, so you'd definitely want to make sure you have them well packed, and as a back up, I'd probably make sure to bring extras in case any do break.

Are you doing the writing on the sand dollars yourself? Unfortunately I don't like my handwriting enough to pull something like this off, lol.

Thanks for your advise Heather, yes I will be doing the writing myself, I don't love my writing but I also don't hate my writing either. All the sand dollars where collected by Warren and I on our trip to the Bahamas in the spring. It was a good experience and at the same time we learned how to pack them. Tupperware is a miracle product when it comes to shells.

great idea. we are also doing this but we are doubling them as the place cards also, I am adding a tag they can take off w their names and table #. Also i am just writing "Jamacia 10.3.09" not adding my name.

what a great thing for your guests to take home and use on the christmas tree to remember the trip.

good luck!

I love that you collected these yourselves instead of buying them!! I mean, it would still be cute if you bought them, but that you collected them yourselves just makes the whole thing more personalized :)

Hi Keila

You asked about pens, Sharpie Permanent Markers work fabulously. No bleeding, no smudges, and it looks great. You need to use the fine tip markers, we purchased the "Twin Tips" - they come in 12 different colors for under 13.00 CDN at staples.

Let me know if you need any more information.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
