English in Punta Cana

Recommended Posts

Hi Girls!

I'm a newbie to this site and up until now I've only posted a couple of quick replies and read many many posts. I've finally decided to stop lurking and ask some questions.

My FI and I are still deciding on a location for our DW. We want a place that's affordable enough for our guests but lavish enough for a wedding. We've been to Dreams Punta Cana and fell in love with everything from the people to the beach! After reading about weddings in PC, I realized that the ceremony is done in spanish.

I guess the question is - Has anyone looked into getting married or has anyone gotten married in DR and had a ceremony in english?

Thanks! I look forward to interacting with you all!!!

I don't think you will have a problem finding someone to perform an english ceremony in the DR. I know Dreams in Punta Cana has an english ceremony for sure :0) I was just there back in June. That resort is such a dream to have a wedding at too especially with the gazebo. Generally the wedding coordinators at the resorts could help you with this as well. Best of luck planning

If you are having a symbolic ceremony, you can have it in english. If you are having a legally binding ceremony, it will have to be in spanish unless the judge is running late or something in which case it will be done in english by the wedding coordinator and the judge will sign the papers at the end (personally, I am pushing for the latter).

It may or may not be possible to find your own officiant to do a legally binding one in english, but I have not looked into this.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
