Question for anyone doing DYI invites with cards and pockets supplies

Hi There,

I've done numerous searches on here for a similar thread and wasn't able to find anything so please forgive me if this has already been posted.

A few months back I purchased all the invitation supplies needed to complete my pocket fold invites. We've designed them and have them ready to print (we're using the pre-cut cardstock that we ordered from Cards and Pockets), however everytime we try and print on the inserts or invitations themselves they come out crooked! We've tried 2 different printers now and get the same result despite having properly formatted the print settings.

We've tried FedEx Kinkos and some local invitation ships however nobody seems to be able to print on our custom sized cardstock. (they say the paper size is too small for their printers and they would only be able to print them if we had multiple invitations on one sheet). I'm just wondering how others have gone about printing on the smaller pieces?

We're getting down to crunch time now, I need to get these invites printed and out the door. Does anyone have any suggestions? Alternatively, if anyone has any templates for the Signature style pocket invites that I could print multiple invites on- I may end up having to go that route.

Hrm, the only thing I can think of is an obvious one that I'm sure you were doing already. Does your printer have a glider in the paper area that you can slide over to keep the paper snug as it is fed through the printer? I have a top/back loading printer and I printed my addresses on small envelopes, inserting one at a time so nothing got snagged, keeping the paper guide snug to the envelope and it seemed to keep things straight. Sorry if this doesn't help!

Oh, and if you end up going the multiple invite per page route, I did mine in Publisher, but I'm not sure if it is the same size as yours. I made my pockets folds myself so the dimensions might be different. If you want to take a look at it though, to see if you can adjust things then just pm me with your email and I can send you the file.

How big are your inserts? Very few printers will take a sheet that is less than 3-1/4 or 3-1/2 inches on any one side.

Your best option might be to take some regular pages, print a line down them as a guide and tape your inserts to them and run them through the printer. Not great, but better than crooked.

Thanks for the suggestions ladies. My printer will most certainly accept the narrow/smaller paper, so that doesn't seem to be the issue. And yes, I have tried positioning the glider properly to keep the paper nice and snug. HRMF... this is frustrating! I can't be the only person to be experiencing this.
