Pictures/Digital Negatives

Recommended Posts

I am getting married at the sandals resort in Antigua and I was wondering if it is possible to just purchase 42 digital negatives and if so how much? The only way it seems you can get the digital negatives is by purchasing 200 for $2000 or buying a $1300 package. It is just the two of us going so we want some pictures but that is a bit expensive for what we are looking for? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Yes that is the problem we are having, the WC only seems to give the info she wants to. I hope that it turns out that we can get some reasonably priced negatives to bring home with us. If anyone can share any experiences with us, perhaps about slipping the photographer some cash please share!

I am also getting married at Sandals, and for these very reasons (SUPER HIGH prices, low photo quality, poor customer service regarding photography, etc.), my fiance and I have booked a photographer off the resort to do the bulk of our photos. We will just be purchasing the (6) 8 x 10 photos for $150 and the $500 DVD from Sandals of the ceremony itself, and that's it for our photo budget going to Sandals.

I couldn't see spending thousands of dollars for sub-par photography when a professional off-resort photographer was an affordable alternative. Brian Nejedly is an American Photographer that lives in Ocho Rios, Jamaica, and he's agreed to have his associate do a 3-hour combination portrait/TTD photo session for us for only a little over $1000! I am pretty sure we are going to end up with at least 100 digital negatives, so we feel like we got the deal of the century....and will end up with photos we can be proud of and enjoy for years to come!

Hope my suggestion to do a little research on local photographers in the area near your resort (and then go off the resort for a photo session) does the trick! wink.gif

This whole situation is infuriating. All of the Sandals/Beaches photography I have seen ranges from downright BAD to mediocre at best. And it's not cheap, either. I wish this chain would just realize how much stress they are adding to our special day with this "no outside vendor" rule. I have determined I will get around this ridiculous restriction, somehow. I am getting married next month so I will def post when I get back!

Yeah, I still am undecided what to do about the photography. So far, thanks to Jamaicabride09, I am also doing an account with shutterfly and passing our cards to my guest so I can collect their pics. I honestly feel the most dissapointing thing about a destination wedding is the worry I have about the pics and what we should do...

Here's what we did...We also didn't want to spend more money on pictures than we did on the trip itself-Sandals is now offering a BEAUTIFUL hardcover picture book that we bought (a 12x12 book for us and 2 8x8 books for our mothers & they are mailed to 4-6 weeks after you return home) We paid 1200 for the books and they threw in the digital negative CD for another 200. If we would have bought the CD alone it would have been $2000!! The photographer really doesn't have anything to do with obtaining the CD..It's all done through the SNAPSHOTS shop. The prices also depend on the amount of pictures you have. We had 74 I think. Here's the link to my pictures if you want to see them yourself...Hope this helps!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
