Itinerary for the big day, ideas please! :)

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I am getting married at 1pm at the Moon Palace next May. I am really unsure as to what to do for the day.

The ceremony itself should take 30 minutes. Then I would imagine photos will take and hour after.

That takes us to 2.30pm

I figure then we will head to one of the restuarants for our included reception. I would imagine this will last until 4.30 - 5pm. We won't have speeches then as we will be around other people.

I think we will have a private buffet on the terrace at 8pm where we can have our fireworks, speeches, cake cutting etc....

Now, this is where I have the problem. What do we do from 5pm - 8pm?

And what time does the sun set during May? We would love pictures at sunset :)

Thanks for any help and suggestions! :)

Anyway Im having issues with trying to figure out what to do between 3:30 and 9!! for our guests.. we arnt having a big reception.. we are doing a small one for just our parents and us at 7.. so our guests get to rome free till 9 I guess.. idk what to do!! I hope you get some great ideas.. so that i may work from them too!! Good luck girly..

this is one idea i have had and am tossing around.. depending on how big our guest list is, i was thinking of doing a sunset cruise for our guests to have a few drinks on and such.. i think sun set is around 6? dont quote me on that, im going to go look it up again. but its just an idea.. depending on budget of course!! Hi girls! I'm also getting married in May (end of the month) and I looked up the sunset times - in Puerto Vallarta it's around 8:00 or 8:30. I think the sunset cruise is an amazing idea!! Or people could just go their separate ways for a siesta for a few hours before the festivities pick back up.

Here are links for your locations

We got married at 2:00. The Nizuk section, in the middle of the resort, is very close to the Tucan and the Bugambillias gazebos. There is a great lobby bar inside the Nizuk main building. We had some down time between the wedding and when our 5:00 cocktail hour started so we planned a toasting time in the bar between events. We also let people know they could go back to their rooms or do what they wanted. We had guests that didn't have rooms at the resort so we wanted something to do the entire day. The resort ended up comping a room for them (from noon to 10:00) so they had a place to change or nap so that was nice for them too. It all worked out perfectly.

Here was a bookmark we made and had in everyones bag.

sorry... my bookmark looks strange until you click on it.

Actuall event times:

Wedding - 2:00

Cocktail Hour (outside) - 5:00

Reception / Dinner / Dancing (inside) - 6:00 - 10:00

We also met back at the Nizuk Lobby Bar after the reception for more toasts before the wedding party went and jumped into the pool. Then we came back dripping wet for another toast! We just used it as our main meeting area the whole day.

No it doesn't. I would like to be able to talk to my guests though that's the only thing.

Has anyone just hung out at one of the hotel bars for a couple of hours?

How did that work out for you?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
