Update - cousin having DW same year, and sister wants to be married 3 DAYS after me

Recommended Posts

YOU GIRLS are my ROCK, and are the "wind beneath my wings" (sorry for the Bette Midler reference, but here it's so fitting)! I heart my BDW sisters!!! hug2.gif

Ok, so here's another schizophrenic turn of events -- not only has she backed down, and moved her wedding to March 13, 2010 (it's 2 months BEFORE my wedding, but at this point I'll take what I can get), BUT she's told me in all seriousness that she'd like me to be a potentially be one of her bridesmaids!! My head is spinning...

Again, wtf.gif is going on here? Am I living in some sort of weird, alternate universe or like Crazytown, USA? The past 24-36 hours have been so utterly psychotic that I can't find the words to accurately describe it.

Good Lord, now I have to fill my Mom and my FI in on this new wave of absurditity -- and naturally, you'll all be updated as future developments occur! We are trying to avoid this coming to a "Clash of Bridal Titans" or some nonsense, and now I will have to give the bridesmaids invitation some SERIOUS consideration since she's yielded and apologized for being such a moron! It's so TRUE...you can pick your friends, but you can't pick your family!

T.G.I. (Freakin') F. -- I need a stiff drink in the worst way! shots.gif

This is madness!!! I'm one to believe that it isn't all about the bride so you should let the small stuff go, but in your case? These people are being ridiculous!! Your wedding will go on as planned (and I bet you have the most guests) and they can do what they want, but they aren't idiots and they had to know what they were doing. Sorry, it hurts when it's your family sad.gif

(btw I changed the title per your request)

Ouch...

Okay, super inconsiderate of her to pick a wedding date 3 days after you considering it puts a strain on you and the family to be at both. Sounds like there are a lot of pent up issues here though...hopefully you two can work it out.

Sending you positive vibes :)

Oh man, my blood has been boiling reading this thread! I wish you all the best, and hope the level of CRAZY in your life goes down dramatically very soon. I feel like I need a stiff drink just reading this!

I would have done exactly what you did, and confronted my sister by the way!!

ANOTHER UPDATE!

Ok, so my sister officially got up the guts/nerve TONIGHT to FINALLY tell my parents about her plan to now have her wedding on March 13, 2010 here in Pennsylvania and to their credit, they didn't completely flip out on her (but I really think that's only because I told them in advance that she was moving her wedding to more than 3 days away from mine)!

Now, like I said, she wants everyone to be all honky-dorry, if not excited about the news...I still can't say that I am thrilled, but since she is my only sibling, I'll guess I'll try to be somewhat happy for her that after sooooo many years with this guy, that they are finally going to get married.

I am not even going to get into the fact that my parents believe that her FI is the one that wanted the "way too close to mine" wedding date, and that our family has had a whole slew of major issues and run-ins with him over the years. We're doing our best to avoid the producers of the Jerry Springer show from calling us and inviting us on the show at this point!

Much love to you all once more for your incredible support during this particulary emotionally-challenging time -- You're AMAZING!

    • we ended up using Facebook messenger when we were in Mexico - the hotel had free wifi and at least 1 person from each family/couple had FB on their phone already - it was pretty easy to communicate among guests "hey, we're heading to the beach bbq for lunch." or "everyone is hanging at the small pool today".  a plus was that some people tried to get a hold of me via FB on the day of the wedding and I was totally not checking my phone - they were asking if the wedding was outside given the rain forecast, thankful my mom, MOH and a few other friends were on the group and could respond for me :)

    • Hi Everyone, So, I was cleaning out my closet and realized that I never sold off my extra wedding OOT bag stuff from our wonderful DW.   46 Daily Spanish for Dummies 30 Pool colored OOT fabric bags - approximately 13in x 13in. They lay flat.  I used them for our wedding and they were perfect for everything we needed to fit in each bag. There’s a slight shade variation in the group; I’m guessing some were cut from a different bolt of fabric.  They are also a little wrinkled from storage and will probably be wrinkled from shipping. I have three additional ones, but they somehow got something on them (likely toddler related). If needed, I can try to wash it out and send those as well.
    • I’m getting married in six months to my foreign girlfriend. I was advised by a friend that one of the things I need to do before saying I do is to get a prenuptial agreement. Basically it’s supposed to protect my assets and properties in case my relationship with my future wife goes down the drain. I don’t know though if this is an acceptable practice when marrying Kiev ladies. I don’t want to do it if it would be insulting on her end. I need advice on this. Please help me.
