Mt Antigua Proposal!

Recommended Posts

Before I tell you my proposal story I would firstly like to tell you a little about my H2B and I. We are both 22 and have been together since we were 15 years old. He is the most amazing man and we are just beginning our wonderful life together! We bought our first home together in May 2007 and have a 2 year old Rottweiler called Simba who is our little baby!

My H2B has never been the most romantic person but he does try. He is motorbike mad and is forever spending money (you will see why I am telling you this later!) Everybody knows that this drives me insane.

I had always dreamed of visiting Antigua and had even thought about one day getting married there. I had always told H2B this but didn't really think he had taken it in but whilst on a carribean cruise in January with family he chose the day we were in Antigua to ask me to be his wife!!

Once we had departed the cruise ship we all took a taxi and were taken to long bay beach. He had been acting funny all morning but I thought nothing of it. Once we had got settled in our loungers he stood me up in front of everybody. Then his step mother had her Ipod docked on speakers and started playing a Luther Vandross song in the background who I loooove by the way.

He started by saying he knew he wasn't romantic enough and had written me a poem!! I started crying straight away like a big girl!! He had written the poem himself and read it out quite quickly because he is so nervous! Here it is

I love you because you are true, only we will ever know

I thought I'd write a poem so that I could tell you so.

We have our family, Simba & the bike lives in the kitchen

Spending money is my hobby, you know I'm always itching!

I hope you love this holiday, especially today

I've wrote these words on paper, just in case I couldn't say

I have been making plans without you, I hope you didn't mind

Antigua was the place you loved & now it is our time

Well here we are with family, the beach, the sky, the sand.

I wondered if you would accept this ring and also take my hand.

Susan will you marry me??

We had the most amazing day and then we all had a lovely meal in the evening back on the ship! They has even made us an engagement cake!!

Hope you like my story!

xx

Thanks Everyone, my fiance hates me telling people the story but I just love it!

KarenM we have since decided to get married in Mexico, we are looking at Riviera Maya in March/April 2011. Antigua was just far too expensive for all our guests and I want lots of people to be able to come so we decided on Mexico. Also the fiance hates sitting by the pool/laying on the beach all day and I don't think their is much else you can do in Antigua so I thought Mexico was the better option.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
