Our wedding was a week ago. Sascha was so great and super professional. He arrived with his assistant, Lars. And they got right to the pictures.... they took tons of pictures of all things wedding in our room. The groom/groomsmen were in a separate room and Lars went up there about 45 minutes prior to ceremony. Sascha left the room while I undressed and slipped into the gown, and the came in as soon as I was covered up, to take some pictures of the girls doing up my dress.... He was SO professional. The first thing he said to us was to just act as though he wasnt there, and carry on getting ready. There were a couple instances where he asked me to re-apply some blush, or pretend to at least so he could capture us getting ready. He had such unique ideas for poses. It was great to work with a photographer who truly enjoyed what he was doing... when he got a great shot, he'd get really excited and show us it right then and there! He showed us about 5 shots throughout the day, and on his tiny LCD screen they looked fabulous... so I am confident once edited and printed I will have fantastic wedding photos!!!!! I'll keep you posted once I see the edited prints!

@MrsKrash Congrats!!! I'm so happy you had a wonderful experience with them. The more I think about it, and the more I read, the happier I am with my decision. And, I've still got so long to wait! I can't wait to see your photos! I bet you were a beautiful bride!

Recent MP brides, how did you get Sascha and Lars on site? Did you purchase day passes, or did you have to rent them a room for the night? Thanks for your help!

I hired Sascha after A LOT of research on the internet.  I was looking for an artistic, photographer with unique pictures...not just your typical wedding pictures.  I decided on Sascha after seeing his blog...I absolutely fell in love with his pictures!  I was a little scared that he wouldn't be able to live up to my expectations (since they were so high) but he exceeded my expectations by far!!!
My husband and I got married on February 8th at Dreams resort in Cancun.  We hired Sascha and his assistant for four hours (3:30-7:30).  From the moment Sascha arrived, he was very enthusiastic about getting the right shots.  He never made me feel uncomfortable or awkward....which was a fear of mine.  Neither my husband nor I like having all eyes on us.  He is such a nice guy, very easy to talk to and work with.  Sascha and his assistant took pictures non-stop the entire time they were there.  They even stayed late to get a few extra shots.  Words cannot begin to explain how thankful we are that Sascha was there on our big day to capture our wedding memories.  I would recommend him to anyone looking for a great wedding photographer!!!

We were just married on 2/13 and are so thrilled that we were able to have Sascha and Lars as our photographers, I just had to post on here and rave about him!  The first thing I will say is this:  If you are considering hiring Sascha--DO IT!  You will not regret it!

We wanted to do both day-of coverage and a TTD session the next morning, so he put together a 7-hour package for us:  5 hours on the wedding day and 2 hours the next day.

GETTING READY:

Sascha and Lars showed up at our door right on time, maybe even a few minutes early.  Everyone on my side was running a little late due to some hair issues, so when they arrived it was just me, so I was thinking "shoot, what the heck is he going to do until everyone gets here?".  They both just got right to work!  I had my dress out and a few things I had brought with me, and he pretty much just walked right in and started shooting!  He started out with a lot of detail shots of the things I had brought with me (the dress, the flowers, a special hanger I ordered from etsy), then he got some shots of my doing some makeup before the other girls arrived from their hair appointments.  Once they got there, he really started snapping away again, and showed us a few of the photos as he was taking them--they looked AMAZING.  I gave him the cash around this point because I didn't want to have to think about it later on.  Lars headed over to the guys' room about an hour before the ceremony.  He stepped out of the room while we got the dress on, then came back in after everything was covered to get the lace-up shots and final touch shots.  After that, we went outside for a few shots of the bridesmaids and my parents, then we headed over to the ceremony site.

CEREMONY:

We didn't even notice he was at the ceremony until some of our family shared their pictures and he was in them--really up in there, too.  There are some pictures where you can see him rolling around in the sand in the background, or on his knees getting close up shots of family members or bridesmaids.  It was amazing!  He was very behind the scenes the entire time.

SHOTS DURING COCKTAIL HOUR:

We got some shots with our guests and did a couple group photos immediately after the ceremony.  He told everyone how to stand together and all that, so we were well-directed.  After the group shots, the bridal party went out on the beach and did some shots together.  We were kind of out of ideas and he thought of EVERYTHING, so he would tell us to go "walk this direction for awhile and have girl talk" or "ok now everyone go sit under this cabana"--it was pretty awesome.  After a ton of those shots, we did some couples shots with just the bride and groom.  This is where Sascha got really amazing.  He was rolling through bushes and climbing on top of fences to get amazing shots.  He showed us a couple of them after he took them and they looked unbelievable!  After that, he and Lars walked around and got some shots of everyone sitting around talking and some shots of the tables and flowers.

RECEPTION:

Both guys were pretty behind the scenes at the reception, too.  Every now and then we would see them get up close to something or get some action shots of whatever we were all doing.  We had saved some seats for them to eat, of course, so they ate pretty quickly and then got on their merry way snapping more pictures!  They got lots of photos of dancing, and Sascha had the bridesmaids get up on the dance floor for "crazy girl dance" photos.  That was really fun!  After that, things mellowed out and he politely came up and let us know that they were pretty much finished--they had even stayed a little bit later than we had scheduled them.  He confirmed with us where and when we were going to be meeting the following morning for the TTD.  Even as they were walking away, they were still snapping pictures of whatever they saw.  Amazing!  When everyone was starting to head out from the reception, all of our guests were just raving about how amazing and professional Sascha and Lars were.  They were definitely a hit with everyone since they were so fun!

TTD:

The night of the wedding, we were REALLY impressed with Sascha and Lars, and when we met with Sascha the next morning, it got even better!  He knew his way around our resort (I had seen in his blog posts that he had been to the Moon Palace a few times before), but he really knew his way around.  He took us out on the pier for some pictures, then into the garden areas where he had us walking in the streams and laying on the bridges and sitting on the rocks.  During the whole thing, he was directing us, but he wasn't telling us exactly what to do most of the time, so I felt like he really let our personalities come out.  He would say "okay, you stand here and then you.....seduce him"  and then he would just click away.  Then we went out on the beach and took some photos on top of and under the little towers they have out there.  Then came the part where we got into the ocean--that was interesting!  Sascha was again rolling in the sand and he was chest-deep in the water before we were!  After we were in the water, he had us rolling on the beach and getting sandy.  We both felt really comfortable with Sascha and nothing was awkward at all.  After all of that, he walked with us back near our room and we said our goodbyes.  It was kind of sad to see him go!

Overall, the experience with Sascha was amazing--I am so happy we found him.  I can't wait to see more of our photos!  People from our wedding are still raving about how great they both were and how excited they are to see how the photos turned out.  Even the hubby is telling everyone who couldn't make it all about him, and he wasn't excited about the photography at all before the wedding.

I highly, highly recommend him.  Our experience was fantastic and I wouldn't have changed a thing!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
