Has anyone bought their dress too small on purpose?

Recommended Posts

First, I love love LOVE that dress! I almost bought it as a second dress because I loved it soo much :) Very elegant and yet sexy at the same time!

I agree though that you should get it to fit you now - while it is cliche, it is also very TRUE that it is much easier to take it in than it is to take it out. And even with the best of intentions, we don't always lose what we want to lose! Speaking from experience, I have dropped 35 lbs in the last year - 20lbs since I bought my dress. I bought it in the size I was then, and yes it does need to be taken in a bit now, but it could just as easily gone the other way! A very close friend did buy it too small and was in tears 5 weeks before the wedding because it didn't fit - I'd never want to be in THAT spot. It is much easier, albeit more expensive, to need to get it taken in.

Good luck!!! :)

I got my dress a size smaller than the one I put on. I was in between sizes but went with the smaller one. I too am trying to lose about 10-15 pounds and my first fitting is in November. I've lost about 4 pounds so think I'm on track for November.

Since you're trying to lose 30 pounds, I'd honestly wait a bit before purchasing your dress. In the past I lost 30 pounds and believe me, how you dress and how things fit completely changes. Good luck to you!

I bought my dress exactly a year in advance and bought the floor model so I had to lose the weight. When I tried it on a year ago, I still had 4 inches between 2 sides of the zipper. After a year of determination, I was able to fit into my dress and hardly had any back fat or anything so it was absolutely perfect!

Good luck if you chose to buy a smaller dress!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
