Hi there,

Does anyone know if the pictures look better against the sand with a white dress? I tried on a dress that I liked both in white and ivory, but thought the ivory looked a little classier. Someone mentioned that white looks better in photos on the sand. Does anyone have an oppinion of this? Or does anyone have any good photos of an ivory dress on the sand?

That's funny because I'm pretty fair and I think I look better in white. I have blonde hair so I think with that combo ivory washes me out :) I think I am going with white mainly because of my coloring, but I think if you could wear either that white would look better against the sand. Either way though you want to get what looks best on you (not the beach) :)

I also tried on dresses in both ivory & white. My friends & the attendant at the store said I could go either way but I ended up ordering my dress in ivory (but I can't tell the difference unless I hold something really bright white up next to the dress). It's totally personal preference & what looks best on you! I wouldn't worry about it not looking good on the sand - any color will look great!

I agree with all of the others who've said that it really depends on your skintone. As for myself, I am very fair skinned, so ordering my dress in very pale gold/ivory is what complimented my coloring the best...and I think either white OR ivory would look equally gorgeous against not only the sand, but also the turquoise waters and lush greenery in the background of your tropical location, Mexico!

I think ivory is just a bit softer and more classically feminine...good luck, whatever you decide! wink.gif

I had this same thought, about what color a few months back. I think it does depend on your skin color. I felt the ivory looked better on me.. and i did have trouble telling them apart intill i put it up to something very bright white. I had to have my FH go out and get another outfit though because I didnt want him in all bright white and me in Ivory.. i thought i would clash a bit! Good luck with whatever you decide!! They will both look amazing, its your wedding day!!

Thanks! These posts are very helpful! Actually I had thought I wanted a white dress, but when I tried on an ivory dress, it looked really good on. I think my skin actually will look ok in either color. But, the ivory dress did look very classy. I do want to make sure that it stands out from the sand since most of my pics will be taken on the sand. But from your posts, it sounds as though that should not be a problem. So, now this is yet another decision I have to make!

If I wear an ivory dress, what color shirt should the groom wear? If we decide to go with a suit, what color suite woud go?

I opted for an ivory gown...I didn't even really pay attention to the colors of the gowns I was pulling to try on or the ones anyone else pulled for me. I know aside from wedding gowns, I am not a huge fan of white (after reading what other members have posted this may be b/c of my skin-tone/coloring)...I have always felt that white makes my teeth look less than white (& they aren't yellow or anything)--I'm weird I guess...haha! But when I narrowed it down to my 2 fav dresses they were both ivory, so it must have just been that the color looked the most flattering on me. I have blond hair & fair skin...even w/ a tan, which I WILL have a tan before we leave for Negril, the ivory looked the very best.

I would go for the color that flatters your coloring the best (your hair & skin)...either color will look great on the beach IMO, I wouldn't really stress about that very much :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
