Luminary Bags - This size ok and how many?

Recommended Posts

Dreams Cabo brides (and everyone else of course!)

I bought 100 luminary bags on ebay but to my surprise they are really small. (5x eight). Guess I should have read the description instead of just looking at their photos which looked normal enough.

Here's a picture of them next to a regular size lunch sack from Oriental Trading Co. Originally, I bought a package of 12 Fushia & 12 Orange & 12 white bags from Oriental Trading Co ($5.90), but thought all white will look better with our green/blue color theme.

Do you think they will be ok? They seem large enough to fit a votive/sand, but I'm worried they will look silly on the ground around the pool/walkways. Do I need to fold over the tops to make them sturdier?

I have 60 votive candles with Maye, but can bring more (100 bags).

How many did you use and did you feel like it was enough or did you wish you had more/less?

Oh Awesome! The photo actually makes them look larger than they are. I don't think I'm going to put anything on them.. just white bags. I have a lot of other DIY projects I want to tackle so if I do something this will be last... I figured if they're on the ground so most people will notice the light and think they're pretty .. besides our initals aren't that great so we're staying away from Monogram stuf... ADM (reads Adam)

Angela- remind me where your reception is at?

I used 100 bags at the Oceana Terrace. I think it was a perfect amount. They went around the pool, around the palm trees, around the edge and down the stairs to the bathroom. I really don't think it matters what size you use. Also, the only embellishment mine had was a decorative edge on the top. I think simple is better when it comes to these- because you are using so many. FYI I bought a package of 100 bags at Meijer (grocery store) for $1.97.

We used a decorative edge cutter and took about 2 inches off the top of our bags. I think the shorter length is nice...

Reception is Oceana Terrace also. The bags are tiny... 4xeight.. funny the ebay listing said lunch sacks.. I want to know who's packing their lunch in these things! I have 100 bags, I'll just need to buy some more white votives.

I think I will try to decorative edge on top too.. I could probably snip in one pass! lol

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
