Can't decide a hotel, going crazy!! PLEASE HELP!!

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have been looking into my destination wedding for about 5 months and I still can't decide on a hotel. I'm so frustrated... So far, it looks like I can expect about 80-100 guest to attend my wedding (out of 250). I haven't sent any STD because I have to make a decision!!!!! I know I want it to be in July 2010, I just haven't been able to make a decision on the hotel. I want a hotel that would provide me with a nice reception.. I'm getting married in the church about 40 minutes away from punta cana, and I know I don't want a ballroom wedding reception but I'm trying to find a hotel with a nice beach reception set-up or a nice terrace.... Apparently, based on what I read, the top picks for weddings are Dreams Punta Cana, Dreams Palm Beach, Majestic Colonial, Majestic Elegance, Paradisus Palma Real, Paradisus Punta Cana and Iberostar Bavaro. The Dreams punta cana I read has a nice terrace but has a bad beach. I don't want a nice terrace with a view of an ugly beach.. It defeats the purpose.. I don't know if I'm being too picky or paranoid.. I need help desperately!!

I have heard that the Paradisus is very nice and they do a Beach BBQ including liquor for 3 hours for about $50pp. They also do a private reception for $9500 with everything included and it's suppose to be very nice.

Good Luck.

Pjeanette,

check out tripadvisor and follow what people are writing about the different hotels...I did the same thing for months...even changed countries three times!! I sent out my STDs and said more details to follow. I never mentioned a hotel, just location/area.

Good luck :)

I heard Paradisus palma real is beautiful..but it was a little too pricey i thought for guests...I visited the majestic elegance because I was as confused and overwhelmed as you..and as u can see i'm biased..but we booked it on the spot..its so beautiful. Actually they have a church on the grounds..so unless you have sentimental reasons for choosing the church you did, you can do it in the church right there.

You're not being to picky or paraniod..you're having people fly out, out of respect for you so you want to make sure that they are pleased..its one thing if you go on vacation and it sucks..its another for people to come to your wedding and have them feel like where the hell did they bring us.

Hey guys thanks for your feedback... I went to Paradisus Palma Real and yes it is beautiful but like you said a lil too pricey for my guest... My first mistake was not visiting any other hotels... NSBride2010, I read lots of reviews that for some reason the beach in Dreams Punta Cana is not comparable with the bavaro beach. I keep reading that Bavaro beach the sand is white and the water is turquoise and in the dreams its not.. I'm not really sure.. :) I've been looking on trip advisor and it look like Iberostar Bavaro has really good ratings, now the question is do they have a nice reception area?.. Anyone have any pictures of weddings at Iberostar Bavaro? My email is pjeanette9289@hotmail.com.. Thanks, :)

If you like Paradisus Palma Real but find it too pricey, maybe you could look at Paradisus Punta Cana instead? It's a bit cheaper but just as nice. I got married there and I can definitely say that the beach is beautiful there! Turquoise water, white sand, great breeze, and very private! I did see a beach reception while I was there and it was gorgeous, and well lit in the evening. I had my reception on a terrace but it didn't have a breeze at all so I wouldn't reccomend it but the a reception on the beach would be a nice option....

Check out the Majestic! I was there in May for a site visit and they have terraces attached to the steak and seafood restaurants and also have a great beach. You can do a free dinner for all your guests in one of these restaurants which saves money and throw a beach party reception or do a private dinner on the terrace, the beach or they have a great balcony/terrace of the presidential suite that overlooks the beach. They have many beautiful options.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
