Married in the DR Punta Cana area?....Need advice on best hotel!!

Recommended Posts

I am looking to change my location from Mexico to the Dominican Republic Punta Cana area. I have read reviews but just curious if there are hotels to avoid and which ones people would recommend.

We will have children there so we need a resort that is family friendly...but still want a nice venue for the wedding.

Let me know what you think, I will check out the reviews as well.

Hi NMOREAU,

I have a similar problem.. I first chose Paradisus Palma Real and I even took a flight and checked the place out! I loved it!! But I didn't realize how pricey it was going to be for my guest which to me is very important... What sucks is that I didn't check out any other hotel and now I'm stuck. The Paradisus was going to run up about $2000 pp for 7 days...I've been reading some reviews and apparently the most chosen hotels are the Dreams Punta Cana, Dreams Palm Beach, Majestic Colonial, Majestic Elegance, Paradisus Palma Real, Paradisus Punta Cana and Iberostar Bavaro. I still haven't been able to narrow it down, but atleast this should give you an idea of some of the best! Hope this helps!

nmoreau,

You should check out Dreams Punta Cana if you have a lot of kids going. They have an awesome kids club, the pool is 1.5km long...not sure what that is in miles, 3 maybe?? THey have a rock climbing wall in the kids section of the pool as well....I am also bias as that's where I am getting married!

i'm in the same boat. I want a place that is nice, yet not that expensive for my guest. I was looking at Majestic Colonial. Anyone ever been there? On tripadvisor.com...DREAMS are rated pretty low. The Majestic however, sounds like a beautiful place.

Anyone ever been to DREAMS or MAJESTIC? Which one is less expensive, yet still beautiful?

Dreams Punta Cana is rated pretty high, #12 out of 94 I believe!! Dreams Palm Beach is lower, but I think its in need of reno... although I'm not sure since I've never been. My TA said that Majestic Colonial and Dreams PC are pretty close in price, and that she doesn't see the reason for the higher price at Majestic... just a thought!!

Thanks Girls. Ugh, i know. Tripadvisor is really driving me insane. The thing is, i really want Dreams Punta Cana...but i'm so nervous to BOOK...since i now have negative reviews. From now on,...NO MORE TRIPADVISOR. I don't want my guest to go on there either...hehe...in case they do...they might not want to stay sad.gif

Anyways, i'm so nervous about booking my day. WHich is better...Dreams Punta Cana or Dreams Palm Beach, PC...which one is in need of reno? Which beach is better?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
