Hey NYC girls! I'm way up on Manhattan in Wash. Heights, right by the GW. We're getting married at Dreams in PV. Just ordered our invitations and a suit for the FI. yay!!

 

karenk - i never meet anyone else w/ our name & here we are, 2 on the same thread! how fun!

I am not from a borough... I am from Long Island but I thought I would stop in and say hi. I am getting married next August in Cancun at the Moon Palace. I know what you mean, I did not want typical Russos on the Bay either, even if I could afford to have it there! lol I worked at the Carlyle on the Green in Bethpage and I could never have a wedding like that EVER!!!!

omg!!! you just took away all my worries!! Were getting married at the royal in Cancun too! and you are the only other girl on this board that apparently is, I was getting so nervous! We stayed there last year in May for a week and was in love with everything, were going back Nov 27th to confirm and do our site visit.

So, this is what we bought. Got a zipcar & went over to Men's Wearhouse in Paramus on Sat. I called 3 area stores & the one on Rt17 was the only one that still carried it cuz it's on sale. It's on their website, but he wanted to try it on cuz he didn't know if he wanted a linen suit or just pants & a shirt. Still not sure about what type of shirt yet, but rest assured it won't be salmon. wink.gif

Have you been to the Majestic Elegance or Punta Cana before? We went a couple summers ago to the Majestic Colonial in PC and loved it! The DR is so beautiful!

Yea we actually went down to the majestic in the beginning of the month..long story short i've always wanted a wedding away..he could care less..so when we got engaged it basically came down to the fact that i could have what i've always dreamt of BUT..i had no clue what I wanted lol..so i drove myself nuts with like 50 websites open everyday looking at pictures of places..finally i said screw it lets just pick one island and then go there see what we like..everyone told us DR is the cheapest for ppl coming in from NY..so we decided DR, thats the one place i never been...then narrowed it down to 3 hotels..riu palace, paradisus & majestic..riu was our 1st stop & i'll leave my comments to myself on that one..Majestic elegance was our 2nd and we booked it on the spot.

Ha! I know what you mean about obsessing over which hotel to go with! That was the hardest part of this whole planning experience! Anyway, it's great you were able to do a site visit (or did I misunderstand?) - that has to help A LOT! We're flying blindly here. I visited Puerto Vallarta a long time ago, but we haven't been to our resort. I know I love that city for its beauty & culture and we're just going off others' reviews here and Trip Advisor and having faith that it'll be great. fingers crossed we'll love it.

      Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!

      Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else.
