I think I made a mistake-- Wedding Dress

Recommended Posts

I think its a beautiful dress, and i also think that you have an amazing body where whatever you put on will look great. Honestly? the dress is super sexy and a sick dress..but the dress takes you over and you should be taking over the dress. Save the dress because it truly looks great on you...but if you're not sure..get something you feel confident in, and confident of, the fact that its the best dress for you.

I'm on my third dress, and I couldn't be happier with my decisions, because I have peace of mind finally! If you aren't completely confident with the dress, and your gut feelings are telling you one thing, listen to them! You're a beautiful bride, who's going to look great no matter what, but the last thing you want to is worry about your dress! So keep looking, you still have time! :)

Aw, you shouldn't feel sick because you do look beautiful! It's a fabulous dress on you! I think because you are so petite, the halter and extra detailing works against you a little bit by elongating your torso.

If you change dresses and you want to look taller, a higher waistline (empire) would do the trick. If you stick with this dress, I think hemming it and heels will do wonders!! Your hubby will think you are gorgeous either way! Good luck! Let us know what you decide!

The dress is beautiful, but I do see what it does "cut you off", from the back it looks great. Unless you are planning on wearing heels or maybe having it altered a little bit to make the front bottom hem a little softer for you, I would still look around. It's a beautiful dress though so try to see what a seamstress can do for you, I'm only 5'2 so I completely understand what you're going through!

I share your short pain!! I'm 5' even. That is an absolutely gorgeous dress! but like others say, it cuts you off a little. I think the part that cuts you off is the front...the detail/beading goes a little too far down. I wonder if there is any way you could get some of that removed huh.gif Good luck with your decision!

I tried on a dress almost identical to what you have on. I am also 5"1 and I was told that I looked like it cut me off.....I think when you are short, I think you need something with a bit more of a skirt to give more shape and it seemed to make me look taller.

You all are the BEST! I sincerely appreciate all of your honesty and thoughtful comments. I'm out to look for some new dresses today so we'll see what happens. I'll keep you all posted.

I really want something that is fitted and sexy-- like a sheath or mermaid. If I can take pics I'll show you what I come up with so I don't make the same mistake again.

Thanks once again everyone!!!

Honestly - thats an incredibly sexy dress and I can see why you picked it.

From the back I think that it look amazing! very sexy, and I think it elongates you with the vertical line down your back

From the front - I think you are right it does cut you off a little, I think it is a combination of the bulk of the straps and the length of the dress

That being said - I would look at your options for altering it as I think with some creative changes it could be the 'one' :)

Here would be my suggestion - dont touch the back - but make it the feature of the dress. Cut off the bit at the front making it strapless (the bit still goes up the front and bust, just finishes at the top of the dress. I would get straps made out of the ivory fabric that goe from the back of your neck (connecting it to the top of feature up your back) and have the sraps connect the the outer edges of the bustline (essentially turning it into a halter). You would also need to shorten it. The white halter would elongate the dress at the white will travel up to the top of your shoulders insted of cutting off at the bust.

Anyway, thats just my suggestion but I'm no steamstress!! Hope it helps anyway - just something to think about - maybe it is the 'one' and you just haven't digged deep enough just yet :)

I think that dress is beautiful!!!

I totally agree with Jo&Daz's suggestion. I think her ideas would make the dress fabulous. The back is absolutely stunning so definitely don't touch that at all.

As for the front, the reason you look cut off is probably because the detailing that comes from your neck/shoulders goes all the way down your front to your hips. That's what is elongating your top half, so it's making your legs look shorter and "cut off". If you do the suggestion above, it think it will balance out the front of the dress a lot better and not make it seem so "cut off" anymore. Best of luck!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
