Tattoo design complete!!! **PIC**

Alright ladies, so I mentioned on the tattoo thread that I'm about to take the ink plunge! First one ever and I'm petrified of needles ... but besides that I'm SO excited.

So, my Mum is a phenomenal artist and I asked her to design my tattoo for me (as that would give it more meaning right away), and I asked her to try and channel me when she designed ... I gave her no guidelines, no restrictions ... just told her where I wanted it (on my right side, stretching down from the start of my shoulder blade, over my rib and to my waist ... probably from 6-10" long ... depending). I'm a writer ... always have been, always will be ... and I currently work as an editor ... so words are my life pretty much ...

And this is what she came up with (note that the font will likely change as I'm not too keen on it):

Tell me what you girls think!!!! And I'll FOR SURE post a pic of the finished product ON ME!

I like the feather. I just got my 3rd tattoo this weekend and a feather was something I considered for the meaning of mine (it's a really personal meaning though, so not going to get into that).

One thing that I can think of is that the writing is SO small. I am not sure that it would be usable art the way it is now. While I got mine this weekend, my SIL got one also and she got her daughters names, only 7 letters, but they had to make it pretty big so that it's visible and doesn't blur together. Are the words very important to you? Or is it more about the image? The words are pretty small as they are now and I am having trouble reading them..

I was a bit worried that the words would be too small as well ... and the tattoo parlor had mentioned that smaller letters tend to be fade quickly and would need to be retouched often.

They are rather significant ... but I'm wondering if the artist can maybe beef them up a bit? So they aren't SO small ... I don't like the font either so I'd want that changed ... and my Mum made a boo-boo ... it's a quote from the Rudyard Kipling poem "If" and the last work should be "aim" not "master" on the bottom line ...

I would def take this to a tattoo artist (the one you are going to use) and ask for their input. I think changing the font and making it bigger would help, but not sure. That's alot of words. But I am not artist! So I think you should take it to one and see what they say. They might be able to do something to it that makes it workable. But you've def got a good place to start!

I like it w/o the text better. It's more "pure" looking or something. And I never considered sepia tone for a tattoo, which I guess would just be brown instead of black. that could be cool. Have you spoken to your tattoo artist yet though? I'd be a little scared that a tattoo in all brown would just look like faded black or something.

I think it's awesome and your mom did a great job. I love the sepia tone, but my only concern is how it would look when you have a tan or something. I actually like the tattoo with the words. I think it adds just a little extra touch.

Good luck getting your first tattoo, hubby has been trying to convince me to get one, but I'm too chicken. lol

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
