Hello all,

I wanted to share two things...First, we booked our flights a couple of weeks ago from Denver on Orbitz. Frontier had direct flights to Cancun. US Airways has 1-stop flights through Phoenix and Continental has 1-stop flights through Houston (obviosuly this is Denver specific). We paid $292 per ticket on Orbitz and of course they do the gaurantee that pays you the difference if someone else books the same flight on Orbitz after you.

Also I recently saw on the Moon Palace website that they are giving discounts of up to$400 per room towards your airfare if you book it through their bundled travel deals and stay for 7 nights. Not bad if you like the flights they give you. I personally found that they always wanted to give me a Frontier or US Airways flight....and the times were better on Continental. Even with the stop in Houston, it was just a better timed flight.

Second, are any of you doing sand ceremonies? I have searched all over the internet for a sand ceremony set that I like and finally found one that is perfect and doesn't break the bank. I haven't ordered it yet, but will be doing so after Christmas. I wanted to share in case anyone was looking for something similar.

These are great sand ceremony jars! Thanks for sharing!

I got my flights for $298 non-stop out of Minneapolis to Cancun, but we booked last April when swine flu broke out and nobody would book their flights there!

The prices were mind blowing back then. I checked out same flights last night to see if they were the same and the price had gone up by $60 per person. So I'm glad we booked....but really it is a risk if you book now or later. Either way you risk losing a better deal either way you chose....such a game.

PS - "Swine Flu".....so funny. I work in the Meat industry (Pork, Beef & Lamb)....and H1N1 has nothing to do with Swine other than it was first discovered in them. Silly!

Awesome, I'll check out continental.com now. Thanks for the tip!

Hey Girls..

Wow I wish my flights were 300....Continental flights from Newark to Cancun For July 30th to July 11th are almost 500 a person. It is ridiculous. Early in August the flights came out and were at their cheapest. We shared this info with friends and family, but never purchased our ticket, bc we are STILL stuck on where we are going for our Honeymoon.

My wedding is in July, but I would like to know about how much you are getting quoted for your rooms at Moon Palace. And are you getting any perks, and are you doing it sep. or through a TA?

Thanks so much!

Going bridesmaid dress shopping soon... Wish me luck!

I used a TA and she has been going to bat for me over EVERYTHING. As the travel agents if they have been to the Moon Palace before and if they have ever booked a wedding there before. Some travel agents don't realize how huge the hotel is and allows the hotel to book people in all over the resort.

I had a great time picking out the bridesmaid dresses!

As far as booking your flights...I just got back from Playa del Carmen and I honestly would not go the Mexicana route again and fly through Mexico City. What could/should have been a four hour plane trip ended up being an eight hour trip with the layover not to mention the 45 minute cab ride to the resort once we got to town which was a total of 10-12 hours of travel if you include driving to the airport, getting there early, parking, etc. Exhausting! We spent the first day sleeping in the hotel room because we were so tired!! I will pay a little more for the direct flight next time.

Same here, flights were much cheaper when they first came out. I don't know what I was thinking, I should have booked them.

I'm using a travel agent. She's been to MP a couple of times and has booked many weddings there. We are still getting all the perks as if we were booking through the resort.

Thanks for the Mexicana tip, I was actually going to book my flight now because they are the cheapest. I was iffy about going to Mexico City anyway.

Regarding Mexicana, the airline itself wasn't too bad. I would avoid the layover in Mexico City at all costs and think that a layover in the US would be much better. Keep in mind that you just arrive in a foreign country where things aren't as clear as you would expect them to be and unless you speak spanish there's a language barrier as well. We were redirected 3 times and walked around for a while before we got to the gate for our connecting flight.

I think another thing that made it a little tougher was that we each had two carry on bags and we had to go through a little security (more lines) to have them scanned in Mexico City. So, even though we had a two hour layover, we really needed the time since the initial flight was late getting in and once we found our way around we were only there 15 min prior to boarding.

One other thing that made it annoying, coming back we had to take a bus from the gate to the plane! So that time (last leg of the journey) we went thorugh two security check points, down some outside stairs to board the bus, spend 5-10 min standing while the bus took us to the plane, and climbed up more stairs to get on the plane.

Mexicana also has rows of 3 on each side of the aircraft so although our seats were C and D and looked like they were together they were actually not for ALL of the flights sad.gif We were able to rearrange with single people but a couple in front of us wasn't as lucky since they had couples on either side of them as well and had to sit across the aisle from each other sad.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
