Veronica,

Oh how I feel your pain.I'm sorry to hear about your FI's job....it is so tough right now. My FI works in commercial real estate (he is a Construction Superintendent) and with the commercial industry basically crashed like everything else...there isn't much building going on. His job right now will be completed in May, so we went into this wedding planning task knowing we needed to be conservative to keep our emergency fund in place.

I'm sure you will figure out some creative ways to keep the important details...who knows...this may make your ceremony even more intimate and less stressful. Gotta look at the brighter side when it rains! :) Good luck.

Thanks Janelley :) That's so true. One of the main reasons we wanted a destination wedding was so that we could avoid all of the stress that comes along with planning a big wedding at home (I have a huge family), so I guess this will get me back to basics and force me to keep it simple!

I have a question...I have somewhat of an idea of what I like for my reception..like table ideas, but how do i really know what will look good. I am not a wedding coordinator!!! HELP.. Where can I get ideas?

My colors are coral (pinkish) and Green!

I want something simple but beach elegant!

Vgirl17- Instead of giving up your dinner, make brochures instructing everyone to meet at a certain restuarant for a welcome dinner at a certain time. Its what my friend Amber did and we all just "showed up" at the same time and they seated by moving tables around to be near each other. That way when everyone is dresses up and you don't have to stress out about your dinner. It also allows for any off resort guests to stay for longer because they have to leave after the last planned activity happens. Just something to think about. I will let you know how this goes because I am not suppose to be getting anything and i am crashing everything!!! lol Sorry to hear about your FI. If you need any help with anything let me know your ideas and I can maybe help you cut some costs and corners!

Great idea! We decided to do "Meet for Cocktails" on the rooftop terrace bar for our "welcome" event. Our party is fairly small so wedecided to use the free reservation for the reception dinner on the terrace of one of the restaurants instead. That way our welcome and reception are covered for free.

Hey FutureMsMoulton....crazy girl...can't sleep the last nights before you leave? I imagine I will be the same! :)

We're getting married in a gazebo - i think i may have a choice? i'm not too sure! i think i've seen a review for one of the beach weddings, until that I didn't know that they did them! have you sorted all the colours and layout that you want? how did you know what restaurant to go with?
yeah you have a choice, have you been sent a list of the gazebo's and terraces? if you give me your email addy i can forward it if you want?

I'm far too laid back about this wedding! I have lots of ideas of what i want but not sure if i'll bother! haha! as long as H2B and I are there I don't care! Our theme is Lemon and Navy, but until we're 100% sure on what's happening (ie restaurant or private event) we're not thinking about it too much.

as for restaurants, i found that hard. in the end i went through all the mp review threads and tried to put something together. i made a thread on here called Moon Palace Restaurant Review thread. hopefully that will help you somewhat :) we chose ours on the reviews, and the fact they served ribeye steak! haha!

My h2b is now coming around to my idea of maybe having a private reception there, he wanted to read through our contract earlier and start thinking about prices etc so that's a good start! has your WC been really helpful? i haven't had any interaction with anyone so far! apart from taking my payment and confirmation :)
it does seem easy doing it that way, especially if it includes everything you want.

i've been really lucky with my WC, only because palace resorts made a bit of a mix up at the beginning so i think it was kind of compensation for them to give me a WC early. i think you've probably gathered from other girls here that they're not fast at replying to emails. What i found was easier was to put everything on a word document telling them what i wanted. about 2 months later i got a reply that everything was fine so that's good. but the way i figure, even if i don't get the location i want, nor the restaurant i want nor the decor, i don't overly care. i just want us to get married without a lot of hassle and stress!

what is your dress like? i found it REALLY hard because i didn't want a traditional english wedding dress you know? but i agree, once i got it i felt a lot better! My H2B and his boys are wearing Navy. yours? what about your BM's? my MOH is in Navy like the boys, and my two flower girls are in Ivory.

I just wrote a much more detailed reply however I lost it!! very frustrating!!x
yeah i totally agree! you have to have an opportunity to wear your dress again! and to party with everyone who couldn't come!!! i've booked mine, all pretty much sorted! im more organised with that than i am with mexico! haha!

Hey, i'm so sorry to hear about your H2B. I had a similar budget issue and i was upset, but you know what, it actually felt better once i didn't have so many options and i was choosing JUST the things that really mattered. I bet it will still be amazing :) good luck!

hi! I found google my best friend, and wedding magazines. How about green chiffon table runners with shells and starfish scattered around? and maybe green napkins tied with coral coloured ribbon?

GOOD LUCK ALL YOU BRIDES OUT IN CANCUN NOW! can't wait to hear all about it! xx

I want to know about the rooftop bar too! I want to have my welcome happy hour there, it sounds really nice! I am debating about the lanterns that futuremrseddy had... is the Tucan Terrace okay without them? They look nice but if the lighting is okay then I will skip them.

I am talking to Lily at Zuniga/decocancun and trying to negotiate prices but it is hard because I really don't know what I want! Idk about lounge furniture, lanterns....She suggested this candle entrance station and tiki torches... this is so hard! Here are the pics she sent.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
