Good Luck in your decision. I think it will work out either way.

When I read what everyone else has already done and how everything has all come together I feel like a bit of a slacker.

I definitely need to start working on our wedding website, so that I can include it on our STD's. I emailed my TA today to see what rates he could get. I just want to decide on which way to go soon so that I can get STD's out soon. That way people can't complain that I didn't give them enough time.

We are planning to get married next summer (late June/early July 2011). However, I really don't know where to start with booking. I e-mailed the wedding coordianators at the MP for info about the resorts, but am waiting to hear back still.

We'd prefer to go through a travel agent to help arrange travel plans, but my FH was told by an agent that she couldn't help us this early since rates haven't been set for next year.

I'm feeling a little bit overwhelmed and want to get started soon - I do special event planning for living and I'm very excited to start planning our wedding :)

We'll probably have about 50 guests - HELP :)

Thanks!!
Yay another chicagoland and 2011 bride!
Welcome to the forum! I also have recently joined and am also a 2011 bride. There is definitely a lot of great info on this site.

Give them a day or two to get back to you. They have responded to me fairly quickly. They were able to give me rates for 2011, but what I received from them was only January to April group rates. So not sure if they have summer rates out yet. I had to wait awhile to get these rates as well. We got engaged in November and at that time they didn't have January/February 2011 rates yet. Then when I emailed them again they did and others had already been booking. It can definitely be very frustrating.

I have just booked with moon palace for feb 19 2011 after a couple of grueling months of back and forth with which resort to choose. There is definitely a ton of info on here about the moon palace which will take me forever to read through.

I still haven't signed any kind of group contract as of yet and i have just been working with the miami office wedding coordinators directly. Was wondering for you girls who have allready started this process, do you recommend going through a ta or directly through mp? It seems as though they don't honor group rates or the freebies unless you go through them, but was wondering if it would save my guests some $ if i went through a ta. Is it too late to go through a ta if i sign something with mp?

Any direction would be greatly appreciated!

let me stress it now...go with a goood ta that will listen to you and help you not make things more stressful. We worked with one agency and they were not willing to work with us, so we switched to another one and they have been much better. Yes, we are still doing things we shouldn't be handling, but what u going to do...find a ta that will help you out. Planning will be made easier!!!!

ooH I Rem. When I first started. Use this thread to your advantage!!! And 2008-2009 forum as well.

Search around for a good TA. They cannot do much now bc flights and stuff are not out yet for next year.. Contact MP say you are interested in such and such dates.. have them reserve your date!

I would work on STD.. and if you plan on having a june july aug wedding, Your guests shoudl receive a STD before a year comes. Also, flights come out then and they are at their cheapest.

Good luck!

Hello fellow MP brides!!

I will post a very detailed review when things settle down a little, but just wanted to drop a quick note to tell everyone that our wedding was PERFECT!!!! I had such a good time and I know all brides come back and say it, but really...stop stressing!!!! It was all so perfect and so easy. Deets to follow!! Also here's a few pics...

And for the girl on here who was stressing out about the wrist bands...you probably won't like this too much, but this is what it's all about...F-U-N!!! Futuremsmoulton and I's wedding party had a beer chugging contest at the pool and when it was the bride's turn she totally beat me. Haha!!

    • Good afternoon, I wanted to inquire if anyone has or knows someone who got married at this resort. How was it? How are the coordinators? Packages that were chosen. Any help would be greatly appreciated.   Thanks.
    • Hi all! I know this is an old thread... but just in case there are other destination wedding brides out there with the same question, I thought I would answer! My guy and I live in Texas and just got our marriage license (yay!). We are getting married in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. The Dallas County clerk informed us that we can get our marriage license in Texas, bring it and a Texas-registered officiant to Mexico, have the ceremony in Mexico, then bring the marriage license back to Texas to file and it will be LEGAL in the US.  In  other words, we can legally get married in Mexico using our Texas marriage license and officiant (who is a family friend), then file the paperwork when we get home. Where it says 'county in which ceremony was performed' on the license, we just put in Playa del Carmen, Mexico and bam! Married :) I do not know if this is true for other states, but it is CONFIRMED for Texas! I suggest asking the clerk when you register for your marriage license. I am overjoyed that we can have a US-legal marriage in Mexico so our wedding date on our license will be the actual day! NO blood tests, or getting married before or after the trip required!
    • Every Bride spends a lot of time researching and worrying about her perfect wedding dress. While many Indian brides choose the traditional red colour for their bridal gown, a few of them find some different colours to wear on their special day. Here is a description of how to choose an Indian wedding dress that suits your skin tone. 1) Fair complexion: You can choose any shade of blue or bright shades of pink and red. In the shades of blue- select scuba blue or royal blue. Among other colours this season, you can pick up your dress in tangerine.   2) Wheatish complexion Just select those colours which bring out the warmth in your complexion. Some of the best options for you are tangy orange, saffron yellow, vibrant shades of red, mint green and hot pink.   3) Dusky complexion: If you have an olive skin tone, then you can pull off any rich and dark colour quite well. So, the colours like classic blue, marsala, burnt orange and brick red are just perfect for you. Also the metallic silver, gold and bronze will even flatter your face pretty well
    • I will be using the hPage Website Builder to create a free website for our wedding. I am planning to post wedding updates, wedding photos, wedding reminders, and wedding articles regarding our upcoming marriage there. For RSVP, I am using Facebook events since almost all we invited have facebook and it would be easier to get their "yes" or "no" confirmation there. In case anyone is interested as well here's their site: hPage Website Builder - https://www.hpage.com
