So far it hasn't been very difficult at all. The anticipation of hearing back from a vendor is the hardest thing I've come across. I decided to book Peter Mills of All About Photography as my photographer (and will still use the hotel's photographer for the ceremony--i just didn't want to book their package as it was too much for too little and I've heard mixed reviews about them so i wouldn't want to chance it) . We have 3 kids so breaking the bank on a wedding is not an option and Peter had exactly the package I'm looking for at exactly the price I'm willing to spend.

We also decided to go with the Amethyst collection. Purple is in this year and the pics on the proposal looked beautiful. We are having a cocktail hour and a 3 hr reception afterwards and are hoping to use the free group dinner that comes with our package for the rehearsal dinner instead. In the package details it mentioned that if we have a certain amt of guests stay at the resort weâ€re entitled to a free cocktail hour, which is also included in our package so Iâ€m trying to see if that additional cocktail hour could just be applied to the reception cost to offset the extra expense-will keep you posted. I went to the Moon Palace on Oct 23rd this past year and was very pleased with the resort- very spacious (rooms could have been a little larger) but overall thereâ€s plenty to do and see and the wedding department is beautiful and coordinators are quite knowledgeable and eager to assist. I too have found that theyâ€re not very responsive to my emails (on limited instances Iâ€ll receive a response right away while during other times it will take several weeks—Iâ€m assuming theyâ€re just inundated with emails and requests plus have to actually set up the weddings so they have their hands full.) Well I have my dress, have the photographer and am now just awaiting a response from a DJ and florist and hope the resort will allow me to bring them in. We shall see. If anyone has any recommends on DJs or florists they would be greatly appreciated.
Congratulations and welcome to the forum! I haven't heard of too many brides bringing in a DJ. For florist, some brides are using real touch flowers while other just use what Moon Palace offers. I am sure you will find a lot of great information through the forum.

yes the mayan ceremony is $1,000 extra and includes the free complimentary stuff. You get the overall set up for the mayan ceremony which includes natural native table set up with plants, fruits, seeds, etc for the ceremony. and the entire ceremony performed by a mayan shaman. Its very very different in comparison to a normal ceremony. mayans do their vows from the heart while their lover holding their palms to the other person's heart. very symbolic and romantic but definitely not the type of wedding for ppl who like traditional weddings...

and claudia is : cfonesca

My fiance is 6'6" so it was a little daunting trying to find him and nice inexpensive suit to wear in such hot weather. I'm so glad we have his outfit now!!! He's going to be wearing a guayabera shirt underneath and so are his groomsman. We got them at a shop in San Francisco on Missoin Street. :) I'll post pics when I get a chance.

We also got our shotglass favors in!!! I think they look great! :) We got those from Discountmugs.com

thats a big pile of bs about the new passport. the old one was included when booking through a TA. this will just be another thing on the list for my TA to fight for. good thing she usually wins...ive already promised my guests free tours! not as good of a deal as the other passport either. that just really pisses me off

also, have you done a review? i haven't checked but i'd love to read it! x
We had our rehearsal dinner on the Brazilian restaurant terrace and it was pretty windy that night and the next night at our wedding reception on the Caribbean Terrace. We had LED tea lights for the reception and I am SO GLAD we brought them. We had real tea lights too but it was definitely too windy to use them. I wish I would have just saved the money and just bought the LED lights… I didnâ€t think they would look as pretty as real tea lights but they were great! I bought mine from a vendor off of eBay.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
