That is interesting. I would love to hear if someone else had done that. Sounds kinda risky, but if its legit...it would save soooo much hassle!

Has anyone received a price quote from zuniga for the paper lanters? They originally quoted me 500 with a 150 delivery fee. Then I got them to 300 with a 150 delivery fee, which is still out of my budget for lanterns! Just wondering how far down I can push them.....huh.gif I budgeted 300 total for that

On another note its now 4 and a half weeks since I emailed the wedding co-ordinator with my questions. I know it was about 3 pages long but seriously 4 weeks??!! Plus some guests arent being very helpful. My BM only sent her passport off for renewal yesterday and we go in 8 weeks (they say it can take 2 months to process) QUOTE]

Don't worry too much about the passport issue. They say up too 2 months...but I just got done applying for a renewal passport for myself and a new passport for my daughter. We had major issues due to custody agreements, etc. in trying to get my daughter's passport...HOWEVER, overall I got them both back in 2.5 weeks almost exactly. i didn't even pay for expedited service. It is more of a stress factor for you than it really is a problem....which I can totally understand. I hate it when people don't SEE that they need to do things NOW! LOL

Also, regarding communication....don't worry too much on this point either. Pretty much every bride on here has had a wonderful experience once they got there. I've had a couple of conversations...really...conversations...with my wedding planner and the general feedback has been that they do what they can to organize things prior, but ultimately they have a decent sized staff that just know "what to do" to make these weddings go off without a hitch! In a crude sort of way...they are a wedding factory...they just KNOW what brides want and they listen to the details when they have you in front of them. It sucks for us control freak women (and we all get a little bit that way when it comes to our weddings!) when we can't nail down the EXACT details months before. I know I am the picture child for control freak....and it is KILLING me that everyone hasn't booked and the activities guy at MP can't seem to confirm the same sentence in one email back to me!

Hang in there....the time is flying and it will all come together! It will be wonderful!!!!

PS - I got an email from the activities guy at MP...that if you have the Palace Passport (which came with our booking of more than 3 nights) the Wet N Wild - Swim With Dolphins day package is only $129 per person. It is $149 per person according to the Wet N Wild website....so there is a small savings...but a savings none-the-less.

He also said the tour to Chichin-Itza is about 10 hours and the tour to Tulum is about 8 hours in length. These are obviously all-day excursions. Just wanted to pass along for those planning!

I'm sure it will be fine once I arrive and the WC will sort it all out and i will be wondering what I was worried about. I think my confidence in the service was knocked by my travel agent at home. I requested a catholic wedding when I booked last year and only found out 4 weeks ago that the request wasnt passed on to MP. Mad rush comenced to organise the paperwork etc i didnt know they needed. By some miricle the priest wasnt already booked on the day.
Just have to try and reign in the guests now!! My problem is i'm an unpatient organiser which isnt a good qualitysmile27.gif!

It can be very frustrating getting guests and BM to cooperate, but its important to remember, they don't have the knowledge or planning information that you have so they may just be confused or misunderstood how the booking all works. I know of several guests who have booked flights but have not booked with the resort yet. We also told all guest they had to booked one month before the actual cutoff. If I know my friends like I do, they will put it off until the last minute so this way they can still book "late".

I agree. I gave my guest a deadline of at least making their first deposit 2 months prior to the wedding date. Which is coming up on the 19th of April. With the deadline it really has caused my guest to start booking. That way that gives me a more accurate number to plan with.

Asbarret- you might want to ask MrsBridetoBe. She is on the Moon Palace reception thread (new) and she was just quoted a price from Zuniga about lanterns.

Janelley100- I agree with you. I think that the organizers of Moon Palace will have it all together when we get there. And I got my passport in about 2 weeks as well....

Unfortunately, my main contact with guest about information has been the website. Other than direct phone calls to some of my immediate family members and friends. A lot of my guest are in Virginia and I live in Indiana.

However in my invitations (sent off in March) my RSVP cards directed guest to the website which has the deadline date, therefore they had to go to the website if they were interested. . I even put in there that it is required to pay the full balance 2 weeks prior and to keep a copy of their receipt/reservation (Even though MP allows for paying balances onsite). I don't want to have any problems with balances when we get there...(which is what I think, I got from one brides review). About one month prior I will send out a reminder as an electronic flyer to RSVP'd and paid guest (I have everyone's emails that have RSVP'd from the website) about what to expect, what to bring, paying balances...etc.
I think that the closer you get to your wedding date the more you will start seeing who are actually going and who aren't going. I think most people know at least 2 months prior if they are going on a trip like that... unless there are some unforeseen circumstances. In my case people knew whether or not they were coming after tax refund checks came out lol.:-)

Asbarret- since your wedding is not until October then people probably won't start really looking at your website for information until at least this summer. Which this may work in your favor because you have time to put deadline dates on the website to implement. You will probably start getting more people interested with booking closer to May, June time.

Hope this helps! I'm sorry I wish I had a better way to stay in touch with guest but this has been helpful for me.

We did the dolphin swim and it was buy one get one free... so like $67 each. It was ok, but we both agreed that at full price it wouldn't have been worth it.

I am so glad to hear that you have taken the relax and let it work out when you get down there... I so wish i had listened to that advice. You go and sit in the wedding coordinators office for like 2 hrs and go over every detail that you want for the wedding. I was totally relaxed and at ease when we walked out of the office smiling and happy.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
