Again, I got the contract and signed it directly with MP. It only stated our wedding date...no room contract. What I failed to mention last night was that I also choose this TA because MP was listed as one of their top 5 resorts they have exclusive deals with. Well, those deals never materialized and now when I review their website they don't even list MP as preferred wedding resort under CANCUN...with the other 20 or so resorts they list. This just worries me....I picked a TA based on their deal to MP and then they don't even deal with MP?

I am just waiting on an email from Tammy and if the price is right I am going to call and cancel my deal with this other TA today. The TA won't be the one taking the fee from me....it would be the tour operator FunJet I believe. So I will have to do some work today. I HATE calling to tell people they suck!

Wish me luck!foshizzle.bmp

janelley100- I agree if you are having problems now it's just going to get worse. You shouldn't stick with them. It sounds like you're describing destinationweddings.com? If so, you can always ask to be assigned to another TA.

ashley- Nice website! Sorry, I can't help you with the ballroom questions. We are having our reception on a terrace and it will be minimal. We're having a big AHR so we're not doing too too much in Mexico.

Im pretty sure I know what TA you are talking about, and I have read about other brides having pretty big issues with them. I too vote BAIL!! At this point, you deserve to be stress free and it sounds like Tammy can deliver

ISSUE:

I was asking my MP contact Claudia about whether my photog needed a day pass or a room for the night and she emails me this:

Hello Ashley,

Due to a very strict outside vendor policy, as long as he is from the states and travels to the resort as one of your guests it will be fine.

But he is not from the states....he lives in Mexico, but I know he has done tons of MP weddings... Anyone else have this issue? Anyone think it will really be a problem as long as I book him a room? Worried cause I already love him and booked him

I thought I'd read most (if not all) posts here and in '09 thread. Maybe I missed something.....

I've previously read that outside vendors are permitted IF you pay a day pass . BUT WC just confirmed that ONLY a photographer is permitted ONLY if they are staying at the hotel (you book a room for them).

Can any of you confirm this 100%huh.gif Was the say pass just hear say or did they change the policy ?

this is directly from one of our emails:

*When bringing in an outside photographer, can I just purchase a day pass for him, or does it have to be a room?

A: we do not allow outside venders, however, it is only ok to have outside vender if you bring him/her from the states and he stays at the resort as one of your guests.

she skirts around the issue of day pass or room for the night. i think room for the night is implied.....

have you heard anything about the photog having to be from the states??

This is the reply I got:

"Outside vendors are not allowed.

Please see part of the wedding contract you signed.

Outside vendor service (photography, florists, decor companies,
audio visual companies, entertainers etc) are not permitted on
premises.

About the photographer, if he/she stays at the hotel it is not a problem (no day pass)"

No mention of US or Mexico.....

Good morning girls !

Can any of you confirm MP's incentives? I received something from the Miami office in the early stages of research indicating below:

The Hotel agrees to provide one complimentary Cocktail after ceremony with 10 to 19 rooms paid nightly for 3 nights or 30 room nights. Should the group require additional functions there will be a surcharge of $15.00 USD per person, per event.

· The Hotel agrees to provide one upgrade to a complimentary private function plus 4 complimentary nights for the bride and groom with 20 to 24 rooms paid nightly for 3 nights or 60 room nights. Complimentary nights have a $10.00 USD per person, per night, non-refundable charge for tips and gratuities applied. Should the group require additional functions there will be a surcharge of $15.00 USD per person, per event.

· The Hotel agrees to provide unlimited private functions plus 7 complimentary nights for the bride and groom with 25 rooms or more paid nightly for 3 nights or 75 room nights. Complimentary nights have a $10.00 USD per person, per night, non-refundable charge for tips and gratuities applied.

· The Hotel agrees to provide the bride and groom with a room upgrade for a minimum of 25 rooms paid nightly for 3 nights or 75 room nights, based on availability

ETC ETC....

Now... although I don't meet the room requirement (we'll probably have 12 rooms) but more like a total of 83 room nights.....does this mean I still get the unlimited functions??

I'm waiting for the WC to reply but I can't wait any longer :)

Ashley,

For my wedding I have an outside photographer. I am paying for them as guest at the hotel for two nights. If you pay for the nights stay then they will be treated as guest who are taking pictures at your wedding.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
