Hi Ladies!

I'm in the final planning stages, so if anyone has questions I am happy to help.

But I was wondering if anyone has purchased a fireworks package? I'm debating on whether or not they are worth it! they are really expensive. Any thoughts?

For those having a civil ceremony, this is what I got as the script (well, one of many depending who the JOP is):

IN CANCUN, MUNICIPALITY OF BENITO JUAREZ, STATE OF QUINTANA ROO, MEXICO, WE ARE GATHER TO CELEBRATE THE CIVIL MARRIAGE OF (GROOM´S FULL NAME) AND (BRIDE´S FULL NAME) YOU ARE BOTH (NACIONALITIES) CITIZENS, YOUR WITNESSES (FULL NAME OF THE 4 WITNESSES).

YOU ARE BOTH ENTERING INTO A UNION THAT IS THE MOST CLOSE AND INTIMATE ONE, IT IS THE MOST PRECIOUS RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN TWO PEOPLE

NOW IN ORDER TO LEGALIZE YOUR MARRIAGE, WE WILL SIGN THIS DOCUMENTS

(SIGNING OF DOCUMENTS)

TO CONTINUE WITH THIS CEREMONY I WILL SAY SOME VOWS TAKEN FROM A LETTER

(READING OF A POEM)

FOR ALL THIS REASONS AND IN THE PRESENCE OF YOUR WITNESSES I ASK YOU

(GROOM) DO YOU TAKE THIS WOMAN TO BE YOUR LAWFUL WEDED WIFE, TO LIVE TOGETHER, IN THE ORDINANCES AND THE STATE OF MATRIMONY, TO HONOR AND LOVE HER, TROUGH SICKNESS AND IN HEALTH, AND KEEP YOU ONLY INTO HER FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE?

(BRIDE) DO YOU TAKE THIS MAN TO BE YOUR LAWFUL WEDED HUSBAND, TO LIVE TOGETHER, IN THE ORDINANCES AND THE STATE OF MATRIMONY, TO HONOR AND LOVE HIM, TROUGH SICKNESS AND IN HEALTH, AND KEEP YOU ONLY INTO HIM FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE?

NOW IN THIS SIGNIFICANT MOMENT YOU WILL INTERCHANGE YOUR WEDING RINGS. PLEASE NOTE HE WONT SAY VOWS. YOU’RE ALLLOW TO SAY YOUR OWN

(RINGS INTERCHANGE AND IF THEY WANT, VOWS OF THEIR OWN)

(GROOM AND BRIDE) IF THERE IS ANYTHING YOU REMEMBER FROM THIS MARRIAGE CEREMONY IS THAT IT WAS LOVE THAT BROUGHT YOU HERE TODAY, IT IS LOVE WHICH CAN MAKE IT A GLORIOUS UNION, AN IT IS BY LOVE THAT YOUR MARRIAGE SHALL ENDURE.

SO ON BEHALF OF THE LAW AN THE SOCIETY, AND WITH THE AUTHORITY GRANTED ME BY THE MUNICIPALITY OF BENITO JUAREZ, IN THIS BEAUTIFUL PARADISE OF CANCUN, I PRONOUNCE YOU HUSBAND AND WIFE.

CONGRATULATIONS, AND YOU MAY KISS YOUR BRIDE

I didn't like this and was told to bring a copy of my script to my first meeting if I wanted something else read.. so ladies, you can fight to have your own script read don't think you can't.

What other questions have been brought up when speaking to your assigned WC? I want to make a list.. so far my one question is if I can have a wedding rehearsal the day before, I remember reading a review on MP that it was done before when requested.

Hmmm...here's questions I had or have:

i asked if they have dry cleaning service so I can get my dressed cleaned before my AHR: yes, it takes 48 hours. You can express it for next day service for $90. That sounds really cheap so I'm not sure if $90 is the express fee that will be added on to the dry cleaning fee or if that's the total.

on my next email I am asking if I can get a smaller version of the cakes in the brochure because I don't want the $280 3 tier one and I think the complementary one is a little ugly. I'd like to pay like $80 and get one tier for my 30 guests. She said you can add on another tier to the comp. one for $80.

I also want to know if about the cost of the private function. I think I'm going to have 31 people...so do I have to pay for a whole other table ($400) for that one additional person? or is it just $40/person.

The disco opens at 10:30.

The Michael Jackson show is Mondays at 8:00 pm I think (which was disappointing because I've read so many good things about it and my guests are all leaving Monday afternoon)

Caribbean Terrace and sunrise lounge bar were recommended to me for meet and greets.

french and italian buffets were recommended for reception

don't have to bring cake knife and server

I tried to get some info on this too but didn't have any luck. The shows are very short for the $$ paid. I'm looking into getting firedancers - for a10 min. show , 2 dancers - I was quoted approx $260 from an outside vendor.

I try not to vent very much because...well...I just try not too. However, since no one else seems to understand my temper tantrum, I figure you ladies might. So here goes!

I decided to use a specific travel agent due to the information they provided on their specialization of destination weddings. They had good reviews, a wonderful website and are a branch of a much larger natio al travel agency. The only required a $50 deposit to begin the planning process and get your free planning website up and running. This $50 was not a fee (as they are a travel agency) and would be applied to the final balance as a credit before you depart. Sound good?

So I paid the deposit, got assigned a "certified" destination wedding specialist who specializes in the Mexico/Carribean resorts, got my website up and going...all is good! THEN, I have my first call with the TA. Maybe my expectations were wrong but basically I wanted to know what would be the best deal financially for a small destination wedding in the Cancun area. It was then that I should have asked for my money back.....my mistake. The TA basically wanted me to tell her where we were going and she would give me some quotes. Well, come on now, I don't know where I want to go! I want suggestions! Is that too much to ask for?

So we finally decide on Moon Palace based on the fact that our best friends got married there and we had a first hand account of what we would get. So I go online and find the MP wedding website...see that our date is open and send in a request in a hurry. Did I mention that it takes our TA about 5 days to get back to any of our emails? She then sends me about 20 quotes....in individual emails (not in a spreadsheet or something simple) to review. We pick one and she books it. Then she was out for the all of November and December (on vacation I suppose?) so I called her fill in when we came across some SUPER cheap flights on Orbitz. The fill in TA said BOOK THEM NOW! So I did. Once again....I did the work!

The kicker is that NONE of my family or friends will book through her because she can't get good pricing and takes forever to get back to them. So I emailed Tammy (You know...the host of this website!) and she took pity on this poor bride and is helping out my family.....and has come up with a better deal than what we got through our current TA.

So my dilemma now is...do I cancel the resv. I have now and rebook with a better deal? Or do I just stick it out? I haven't inquired if there is a cancellation fee or now....but will be willing to give up a little bit to get better service. Tammy has gotten back to each of my emails within 24 hours if not sooner...and provided concise and simple quotes that I understand.

Also, what category of room are you all booked in? She gave me a quote for Deluz, Superior Delux, and Superior Deluxe Ocean Front. Now I am torn....I've never been to the resort so I am apprehensive about what room to pick.

More so than anything, I am just really really frustrated with out TA and disappointed at how I have done all the work when I thought I was getting the services of a "Certified destination wedding travel agent".

Sorry if there are typos...I got to typing and just started spewing this post out! :)

HELLO ALL BRIDES!!

CONGRATS AND HAPPY WEDDING PLANNING!

My wedding is at the Moon Palace on June 19th! I can't believe that its only 5 months away. So far I have had a great response from the staff at Moon Palace. Excellent! We have organized to have our wedding on the Tuscan Gazebo and I plan on having a large reception in the Sunrise Ballroom. I am looking to have various table arrangements (FLOWERS), gobo lights, ceiling drapes, elegant lighting, full service D.J, Dinner....the works. I would like to get some input from brides that have used any of the ballrooms, please let me know your opinions and which ballroom you used... I honestly can't wait until the wedding planning is over...this has been a lot of work. lol. I also wanted to share our wedding website which shares information about how we are letting our guest reserve their rooms online directly with moon palace. Feel free to use any information. I will extend all updates of my experience (like's and dislikes as well) on this website

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
