Hi Moon Palace Bride! That's great, I believe my ceremony is at 5 p.m. at the Tucan Gazebo. How about yours? My WC is Claudia Martinez. Thanks for the info. I did respond to Claudia - how do incentives like the cocktail hour, etc. come in to play if Moon Palace has nothing to do with the contract? I have a feeling you are right, I think when it comes down to it MP will accomodate us I just do not want to have to get stuck paying for rooms not booked. Right now we have 14 rooms booked, but should have 16 with the other 2 rooms I was talking about they will not honor.. I believe I have the other couple possible bookings as well so I guess I will wait and see. I will definitely be firm with MP it's still 20 rooms booking for my wedding giving them business you know?

So excited we'll have to chat more about plans, etc. I feel like I still have so much to do!

Well I was wrong. My travel agent is now telling me that the only rooms that count towards my group contract are one's that booked with my travel agent Liberty Travel at their specific office. Not other locations in other cities? For example, a friend of mine didn't think anything and I was never told so she went to a Liberty Travel near her house and booked. My TA is telling me those 2 rooms do not count towards my 20 room contract. It's BS. Than to make matters worse I figured ok well I will go right to the source, I emailed my WC and asked her about it, if they would honor any rooms booked towards my contract considering a room is a room, and money is money and her response was that I have to talk to my TA, she handles my travel accomodations... Like as if MP has nothing to do with the group contracts?? Help!!!

This was my frustration for weeks !!! I posted about it a few weeks about. I even lapsed my wedding contract because I couldn't get a straight answer! MP says that the group contract PLUS bonuses is arranged by the TA and the TA says it's MP. When my group contract was devised there was no mention on it about my inclusions. When I asked my travel agent her response was " they haven't updated their website since 2007 so I'm chking to see what they are currently offering " WTFrig !!! I was miffed to say the least . After hearing this I called Palace Resorts directly. (But before that the tour operator had intervened to try to resolve it). Although MP said they couldn't provide anything to me in writing , as long as you have a group contract that meets the booking requirements, you are eligible to receive the promotion. The long and short of it is , is whoever booked your travel , is responsible for your group contract. Hope this helps.....

Thanks Indy Chic. That definitely helps, thanks! This whole group contract needs to be better explained to people when booking! I like you, was not told about anything. Only that to get the free incentives you needed to have the group contract. So I said sure. I think like MoonPalaceBride said the MP will more than likely accomodate us no matter what to keep us happy it's just frustrating because there's a lot of money involved. Thanks so much for the information, I am starting to calm down a little now :)

Hi, trickly one... I would have the private function at night too. I have been to a wedding abroad before and this time gap is quite useful to pop back to the room, freshen up apply some lippy or deo, change out of your shoes. It also allows some time for you to relax and have a chat to the bride/groom and other guests. With the weddings i've been to back home there is about an hour gap but the groom and bride are off taking photos and you hardly have any time to compliment the bride/decorations etc. People will find their own entertainment at a bar so I wouldnt worry.bunny_4.gif

Who's your WC? My FI's parents are Palace members, so we did all our booking through them. We were planning on only having family and everyone booked that way, but a few friends have decided to come and I found an online place to book them through. Once I mentioned this to my WC, she told me she'd honour it as a group booking regardless if we actually did the group booking or not.

Be firm about it with your WC and I think they'll honour the rooms.
Hi Avery and Moon Palace Bride, I am a date twin as well. I am getting married at the Moon Palace at 4 pm on the beach!! How are you ladies coming along with the plans?

Yay! I'm at 3pm on the beach! My plans are pretty much done for the wedding, as we're having a small group come and we're not doing a real reception down there. We'll be having the ceremony, doing pics, and then probably hanging in the lounge with an appy or 2 before dinner. Not sure where dinner will be yet, but afterwards we'll head back to my FI's dad's presidential suite for a few more cocktails before going dancing at the disco on site.

My main planning is going into the darn AHR! So much work! I'm a DYI queen so this site is keeping me busy and full of ideas!

Hey Avery, Claudia is in Miami, and you'll be getting another WC who's on-site soon. I'd recommend asking Claudia to provide that info to you now so you can start communicating directly with your on-site WC. Some gals have had issues with this, but I have Claudia Fonseca and she's been extremely easy to communicate with.

FutureMrsFoulton has had problems with hers, and I believe her name is Kelena? Can't exactly remember.

How about you two, planning going well??

Not to burst your bubble but if you read your contract Moon Palace doesn't have to honor the cocktail hour or reception because you didn't book directly through the moon palace. I have 30+ people attending the moon palace many for a week at this point they aren't honoring it.

I started with Angelica and after 2 weeks and still no email I contacted Claudia Martinez and expressed my discontent so she re assigned me Kalena. Kalena is now in contact with me and answering my questions in a 2- 5 days!
I hope everyone else has better experiences.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
