Hello girls,

I'm getting married at the sister resort Aventura Spa Palace and wanted to share some info since it should apply to the Moon Palace as well. One of my concerns at the Palace resorts is that their bouquet prices are outrageous! For a maid of honor bouquet the prices start at $115+... well I spoke to my onsite wedding coordinator and there is a alternative which you can request a smaller bouquet (they call it toasting bouquet) for $60. Just thought I would pass this information along to you guys as well. Make sure to ask your coordinator about it.

Thanks for the information. I also believe they are charging ridiculous prices for the flowers.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Ok, so i signed up for theknot and wedding channel etc. And today I received an email and on the subject line it said-YOUR WEDDING IS IN 6 MONTHS! I just freaked out.. 6 months no one has responded yet to our emails.. My invites are going out by Feb. I hope everything goes smoothly.

All but one of my bridesmaids has been fitted..still waiting to order.

For coral bridesmaid dress- what jewelry would match nicely... GOLD OR SILVER?!?

Hi Moon Palace Brides! (newbie here). I just decided on Moon Palace for my October 2010 Wedding (after looking at 2000+ photos). Haven't booked anything yet, or even talked to anyone.

Would you all recommend using an agent or booking directly through MP? I have emailed Sunmex agency just to see what they have to offer.

An important question: When they say a 50% deposit is due 14 days after confirmation....what is the 50%? Is it half of your wedding package....half of your travel....half of everyones travel? Can guests book through a website like travelocity or do they have to book directly through the hotel?

Thanks. Yea MP brides!

Thanks very much for that info. I will definately be asking the WC about it when I get assigned. I was looking at real touch - works out about the same price as the toasting bouquet but without hassel of packing and transporting them. Yeah!smile03.gif

hey!! welcome!

well it's easier if you go through a travel agent (TA) just for convenience. BUT, you get big benefits when booking direct with the Moon Palace (MP). if you book with the MP direct you get free events depending how many rooms you and your party book. It's worth speaking to a TA about getting a group booking, so you still get these benefits.

although saying that, we looked at doing that, but it worked out about $300 per person more expensive!!! so we forfeiting the free events so that everyone gets a cheaper trip. then i let my guests book however they wanted, just so long as they're at the hotel on the day of the wedding.

also, remember that you can only have 20% of your guests as non-MP residents (I actually negotiated this up to 30%) and day guests have to pay a $89 entry fee.

Like Woodsylou said, there's advantages and disadvantages to both. We chose to book through a travel agent to save our guests money instead of save us money.

I also opted to use a TA.

The 50% deposit is for the wedding package you choose + $300 for the justice of the peace if you plan on getting married down there (some brides are having a legal day in the states before going to mexico to avoid this fee)

I would call them to make sure they recieved your request and maybe they will have you fax it so you can confirm your date sooner. I didn't have to pay anything when I first faxed my request, however I did give them a credit authorization for the $300 cancellation fee, but they didn't charge my account anything. Now that they changed the packages (since I booked) I'm doing the New free package and will send them my $300 at least 30 days before my wedding so they may require that as a deposit now... I don't know for sure.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
