Yea seriously, thanks for letting us know Nora. I was really going to book mexicana today, I'm going with continental instead now.

On a different note, I sent over my ceremony script that I want read by the Justice of the Peace but the WC said I'd have to have a minister read it... and he's an extra $220. What's the difference between the two? My script has nothing religious in it, unless I over looked it. Did anyone pay $220 for a minister or is going through this?

"I'm using a travel agent. She's been to MP a couple of times and has booked many weddings there. We are still getting all the perks as if we were booking through the resort."

Just curious what perks? How does it work for you?

We are having a hugee problem. We have a TA who arranged that if we have guests that in total stay 75 days we get a free wedding etc. However, most of our guests are trying to do the booking themselves bc the prices are somewhat on the high side. Most of our geusts are tryign o use orbitz, expedia.. etc. We think it should count for somethign, since the only reason why they are staying at the resort is due to our wedding. Basically we are helping their resort make money, and they are not doing anything for us or for our guests to accommodate their expenses.

Ours is the same way...we have 15 rooms booked so far and will probably receive nothing. It is frustrating.

It's also weird to me that some of you are in contact with your wedding coordinator and have weddings months after mine and no one has contacted me yet or returned my emails. I don't think I have too much to plan for down there, but it still would be nice to have a contact.

If its a symbolic ceremony I think it can be done by a justice of the peace because they aren't having to be witnessing any legal commitment. If its a legal ceremony they have to be done by a minister in Mexico.

My TA does her best to price match/ promotion match (if there's a better phrase for this, forgive me) with what the resort offers. If you go to MP's wedding website you'll see all the promotions/perks there:

10 to 19 rooms – complimentary cocktail for guests after ceremony
20 to 24 rooms – complimentary private function + 4 free nights for bride & groom
25 or more rooms – unlimited private functions + 7 free nights for bride & groom

I believe once everyone is booked at MP, and in your case a lot are booking on their own.. they will be counted toward your group for perks. Try talking to your WC down there to arrange and count everyone toward your group perks.

I was frustrated about not having a WC and knowing other brides who have their weddings after mine had their gazebo/terraces and other things taken care of already. What I did was contact the Miami WC and she set me up with a temporary Cancun WC assistant until my actual Cancun WC contacts me. Hope this helps you.

I had my travel agent call the Miami office today and they said that wedding coordinators are not assigned until 60 days out (although they previously told me 90 days) and I will receive a call then. What the heck?!? So, she asked why other brides were in contact with someone already and she said they will be contacting me in the next couple of days. We'll see.... It's really not a huge deal, but I just want a contact to reserve a gazebo and terrace.

I sent off a question to Claudia and she got back to me right away and told me my coordiantor would be in contact with me soon.

I found this AWESOME confetti-- I don't think I will need 150 cups (maybe we can share Tricia!) EcoFriendly Confetti Biodegradable White Confetti 4 quarts for $6.99 (150 scoops) I wanted to know if they would let us throw it cause it looks really fun-- this site also has REALLY reasonable freeze dried roses to throw!

Keep in mind that you just arrive in a foreign country where things aren't as clear as you would expect them to be and unless you speak spanish there's a language barrier as well. We were redirected 3 times and walked around for a while before we got to the gate for our connecting flight.

I think another thing that made it a little tougher was that we each had two carry on bags and we had to go through a little security (more lines) to have them scanned in Mexico City. So, even though we had a two hour layover, we really needed the time since the initial flight was late getting in and once we found our way around we were only there 15 min prior to boarding.

One other thing that made it annoying, coming back we had to take a bus from the gate to the plane! So that time (last leg of the journey) we went thorugh two security check points, down some outside stairs to board the bus, spend 5-10 min standing while the bus took us to the plane, and climbed up more stairs to get on the plane.

Mexicana also has rows of 3 on each side of the aircraft so although our seats were C and D and looked like they were together they were actually not for ALL of the flights sad.gif We were able to rearrange with single people but a couple in front of us wasn't as lucky since they had couples on either side of them as well and had to sit across the aisle from each other sad.gif
We've flown Mexicana airlines almost every time we've gone to Mexico and haven't had any problems. We like to fly with them because my fiance is 6'6" and he has more leg room and space on most Mexicana flights than when we fly with most other airlines. I don't think it's the Airline that is the issue here. It sounds to me like the only problems being discussed here are with the layovers in a foreign country and the seats that were assignedhuh.gif Just my .02 cents...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
