If you are looking for a place to go post-wedding . I would highly recommend Le Blanc.  It's  a palace resort but the top level.  Everything about it was so relaxing!! We needed after the wedding. It was amazing. If you are looking for the same price range, I would recommend Sun over ASP.  I have been to ASP and it's great but it is almost exactly like MP just a bit smaller and about 1.5 hr drive.  Sun Palace is going to be 30 mins away at the most and it will be a little bit different of a scene.  There is no beach at ASP at all.  Sun Palace will have a beach, no kids and if you want to leave the resort for a change there is soo much in the area.  Before ASP I would recommend Playacar palace as it is smaller like Sun but has a beach and is in downtown play del carmen.  You can walk to 5th ave Playa which is pretty cool and it probably about 45 mins from MP. Just my opinion.

Also FI and I thought we would not want to leave everyone and maybe just stay at MP.  In retrospect, so glad we left.  All week we were in constant host/hostess mode, we really needed a chance to relax and never would have been able to if we hadn't.  It was GREAT to just let us and not worry about a thing!

So I submitted my review on Friday but just thought of a couple of things I should have added so here you go:

Would do again:

-Greet our guests.  Most of our guest were arriving at the airport on Wed & Thursday between 11 and 12 so we grab dinner and lunch and sat in the lobby bar waiting for everyone to arrive.  Everyone got there within an hour and we got to say hello, let them know what pool to meet us at and make sure their vacation was off to a great start.  So many guests thanked us for this and were very appreciative of this small guesture.

Would not do again:

Be nervous walking down the aisle.  I really wasn't too nervous as we pulled up but then suddenly there were 2 photographers on me along with the videographer, I got really nervous.  I don't like to be the center of attention.  All the pictures of my walk down the aisle with my parents, my face looks like I am ready to go to war. No emotion at all.  I definitely regret that.  Relax!! It is the best day of your life, even if you trip and fall down the aisle, in the end you will be married to your best friend and that's all that really matters.

That has got to be the best advice and hope that we all remember that during the tough times of this whole planning thing!

Thanks again for the great advice.  I am the same exact way.  I hate to be the center of attention.  I was a BM in a wedding a few weeks ago and the pictures of me walking down the aisle are hilarious.  So serious and tense and it wasn't even my day.  I'm not having anyone walk me down the ailse at my wedding so I will definitely have to keep this in mind.

This is so true.  I have to keep reminding myself of this.  I'm driving him crazy with all this planning.  I hope he still likes me by the time May comes around.

We have a 14 month old daughter, so he's already been through all that. I guess if he dealt with that for over a year, he can survive the next 8 months with me and this wedding.  So far I have booked the date, sent out save the dates and invites, ordered my dress and BMs dresses and booked the photographer.  He has yet to ask his gms other than my brother (I did that for him).  I started looking at gm attire, hairstyles, flowers, private event sites and table decor, but haven't decided anything on that.  My latest fixation is on the OOT bags.  So excited to do those.  My guests are slow to book though.  I think a lot of people are going to use their tax refunds to pay for the trip so I will not have a final headcount until March.  Damn procrastinators! Haha! I sent the save the dates out in March.  Despite all the people who have emailed me telling me they are definitely coming, only ONE has booked so far. Got to love my friends and family! haha!!

How about you?  Have  you gotten far with planning?

Wow! You are way ahead of us...

Save the dates went out at the end of September, I'm making DIY passport invites to go out in November, I ordered my dress from Monica Bridal (custom made in China) which I will hopefully get to see in November to decide if I want to use it or keep trying to look here, our ceremony is booked, rooms are blocked, my parents flights are booked, real touch flowers have arrived at my sister's so we can make the bouquets at Christmas, BM & GM have all been asked but only my MoH and sister have confirmed and started booking, paid our deposit to photographer, picked our colours but haven't decided on decor, I've settled on BM dresses but waiting until December to order for more accurate measurements, prob ordering Linen suits for GM from studiosuits.com. And finally, we have one couple booked, but no one else really has booking info.

So aside from my lack of a dress, our major things are covered, I think.

I'm thinking linen for the men as well.  I will have to check out that website.  I have been having second thoughts since the day I ordered my dress.  It due in by January.  I really hope I have one of those moment I keep seeing on Say Yes to the Dress.  You know when the girl decides she absolutely loves the dress.  Here it is.  Do you think it's appropriate for the beach?

Jen! I love your dress! I can't believe you won that dress. That's really pretty. I know what you mean when you mean if it's appropriate. I am getting married in the chapel so I feel like my dress is more appropriate for the beach vs a church but to each its own. As long as you love it and you look fab, I think it will be fine.

BTW, I've been all about the 2011 MP Brides thread that I forgot we were still in 2010 and now am finally catching up on this thread!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
