Nizuc is sounding more like our kinda choice at the mo, do any of you other brides have any thoughts? x
What TA you looking at? We were paying for our 2 guests who ended up in Grand, and at the time it was the cheaper option...TC advertised it as a seperate hotel..it was hilarious, when I went in-store one day they were like "you know this is a different hotel" i was like, erm no its not!! Shows how much TA's actually know!lol But yeah, I've seen that grand is more expensive now.

If you book with TC, you are likely to get put in sunrise...all our guests who booked with TC (except the 2 in grand that were booked under the grand bracket at time of booking) were put in sunrise. There were 2 guests who were put in sunrise who didn't have kids, and asked to be moved to nizuc, and got told they couldn't because TC weren't insured for this section. Don't know if this is true or whether the rep was just at it...but when we sat down at thought about it, it was the people who booked with TC who were in sunrise.

I don't know what the deal is with First Choice or anyone else, all our other guests booked direct with MP.

Hope this helps :)

Thanks ladies, that is useful to know. We have booked with TC so I will let you know which side they put us in. Have found out my WC is Valeria and she has sent me an email with lots of attachments so when I reply I will ask her if she knows which side (also also about the Grand) x

I'm from Houston though, so what seems not too hot to me could be very hot to others. We were so worried that Hurricane Alex was going to hit during our stay that I was just happy to not have completely rainy days. It rained a little (never more than 30 minutes or so during the day) almost everyday, but it never interfered with our plans.

It was very hot for our 11 am wedding, & I would say 4pm will be very hot as well. We had ours in a gazebo & I'm very glad we did. First of all it was nice to have shade & secondly, the seaweed was extraordinarily bad last week (I'm guessing from Hurricane Alex). They run the tractors all day to try and clean it, but it was never clean (they did run the tractor across the area of beach we were taking wedding pictures on a few extra times & were able to make the beach look pretty good for our pictures). At night after they stop running the tractors and up through the morning when they start running the tractors again, the smell of the seaweed gets pretty bad. I've been to MP before & the seaweed has never been that bad. Hopefully it will get better in the next couple of weeks.

There will definitely be a sea breeze, but it will still be hot for your wedding. I had palm fans on all the chairs to help keep the guests a little cooler. The fans were definitely appreciated. My husband was wearing a seersucker suit & linen shirt (which are both pretty light weight) & he was sweating through the jacket. I was constantly wiping sweat from my brow & my chest. We had a cocktail hour on a terrace behind the gazebo (with umbrellas for shade), and then we moved inside for our reception. The whole thing was amazing & everything was perfect. I'll be writing a review soon & posting pictures, but feel free to post questions & I'll try to answer them. It might be a couple weeks before I get my review up because I still have my AHR to finalize. It's on July 17th.

Good luck to all the rest of the July MP brides! Your wedding there will be an amazing experience!
Thank you for this, i'm not sure what to do. I don't want everyone sweating to death, but i really want a beach wedding. I think i'll wait until i'm out there and go down to the beach ceremony location at 4pm and see how it is. if it's too hot we'll see if we can change to a gazebo. i'm sure it'll be fine!

sounds like you had a great time, what was your dress like? did you have a veil? did you use the hairdressers? there are so many things to think about, but im just mega excited and not stressed at all! i want to be there now!!

also, the seaweed doesn't bother me (the smell might though!!!) i quite like the idea of the beach being imperfect!

I'm sure everything will be great no matter what you decide! I'm sure they'll clean your stretch of beach very thoroughly as they did for the area where I was taking pictures. The smell is most noticeable after the seaweed has been piling up all night. At 4 it should be okay.

I'll add a wedding pic to my siggy so you can see the dress. It was pretty traditional & I wore a petticoat and a veil. (I wasn't doing myself any favors with the heat.) The minister had my husband tuck the veil into the back of my dress for the ceremony so it wasn't blowing so much. I thought about taking the veil off for some of the pictures since it was blowing so much, but from the pictures I've seen so far, I'm glad I didn't take it off.

I had Alberto do my hair & makeup at the Sunrise salon. I requested him based on other reviews & he did a great job! I saw him fixing another bride's hair the day before he did mine & he did a great job on her hair too.

Hello Moon Palace Brides, My best friend is looking to get married at the Moon Palace in May/June 2011. I know that there are many different options and packages to choose from, but could you all give me a round about budget for how much you are spending at the Moon Palace for your destination wedding? Thanks.

Hi ladies,

I have just landed my sites on Moon Palace for a late April/early May wedding date. I am still trying to plan out everything before I book, but I'm very excited about this location. Have any of the already married girls gotten married on the beach? Most reviews I see were in the gazebo.

Also, what are the different names, Nizuc I think I saw? I'm assuming different sections of the resort?

Well, I am looking forward to learning a lot from you girls!!! :o)

MrsC: for the free bouquets you have your choice of roses or lilies and I know for the roses you have your choice of color (not sure about lily colors). You can also make requests as far as greenery and ribbon colors.

Nolabride: you can spend as little or as much as you want at MP...really. they offer free wedding packages with a dinner reservation. or you can choose a free wedding package and add a la carte items like decor, horse and carriage, live music, a private reception, fireworks etc. Or you can choose a color themed pre-set package for around 1000-2000, that come with predetermined extras, but not swapping or substituting.

basically you can spend anywhere from just your travel costs, to 10,000. we are spending around 3000

tlgnhci: the three sides are sunrise, which is for a more outgoing crowd...lots of activities, music and the childrens area. there is moon grand, the newest, most modern and quiet area. and there is nizuc, which is somewhere in between the other two...

there have been LOTS of beach weddings. read the reviews on the forum.

Thank you for the words of wisdom! I will try not to freak out about the beach anymore! I know it will be lovely no matter what...I will be marrying my best friend that day.

Is anyone going to do a "rehearsal"?? I know a few brides have requested them. I'm just wondering how everyone will know where to go and when if we dont do one. we are having a flower girl, ring bearer, bm's and groomsmen...they will be lost!!

Also, any cute ideas about an alternative to flowers for the flower girl?? i dont want to shell out the cash for the freeze dried ones or the expensive ones at MP haha!

Also! I've received my chair bows and runners from tableclothesfactory.com in fuschia and orange coral and they are gorgeous! exactly what i wanted!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
