I just got emailed the menu by my WC. It is 16 pages long! How did you past brides even decide!!!! I have Cristina as my WC, anybody else have her? We are now having our reception at the Terrazza Mar, so I hope to see more photos of it!

I am still on the fence about the chair bows. My FI and bridesmaids keep insisting that nobody will notice or care, and that it is too much of an effort to bring them down (yeah b/c they don't want them in their suitcases!) and that at $3 each at the resort it is a waste, what do you girls think? Will it be okay without the chair bowshuh.gif??

Yeah, the menu is really lengthy. I chose the Yucatan style buffet. I had a Yucatan style buffet two years ago while I was in Cancun and I absolutely love the food- especially the Pibil style chicken. I think it's a Yucatan specialty.
We were gonna get chair bows too but I decided that renting them at the resort was too expensive and buying them and bringing them would be a waste too. I mean, what am I going to do with 40 chair bows? Instead, I am just going to get two of them and have them put it on the bride and groom chairs.

I know...can you believe the menu!!?? very tough. im going to take the guests and our tastes into consideration. also some of the previous reviews! and from what ive heard (as with most things at MP) is that with a little "fighting" you can do some mix and matching. Im also thinking i dont want to do something like bbq that i could eat anytime (and that is probably better here). afterall, we are in MEXICO. i want something ethnic...but not too ethnic for picky guests! basically...i have NO IDEA what i will pick. =)

chair bows...ive gone back and forth also. i know they aren't that big of a deal, but looking at pics with and without...i just feel like they add so much. (esp since im on the beach, and not in a gazebo) so im springing for them. but the website i found them on has really nice ones in the perfect color for .90 cents a piece...and they wont take up a ton of room. but i totally think the set up looks fine without them.

The menus look soo good. I want to mix and match as well. I guess I also need to decide where the rehearsal dinner will be so the foods are the same both nights.

Who are you looking at getting your chair bows through? Personally I don't think they take up too much room and add so much color that it's worth it. It can also cut down on the cost of table decorations as a large arrangement won't be as necessary since the bows will be dressing up the table as well.

totally agree with you alison about the bows adding color and saving on other decor. we are also ordering the same cheeeeap table runners, so we aren't really doing center pieces ....just scattering some starfish/sandollars in the middle of the table (again...cheeeap).

about the bday cake: Our wedding day is the same as FI's sisters 30th bday. i thought it would be really nice to do something special for her....its a big bday. but since everything is so expensive, im thinking about just using our free cake as her bday cake and put her name on it. we dont really care about the cake and countless reviews have said nobody ate them anyway. our reception menu comes with tons of desserts anyway. i know not every bride would be willing to give up her wedding cake, but its one of those things on my "dont care" list. just an idea for you jodimichelle

Hi all!

I am considering the Moon Palace as a possible location for our wedding. I went on trop advisor and saw a review that said the water at Moon Palace is merkey. Those of you who have been...is this true? Is it not the crystal blue water that I am imagining in Cancun areas?

Thanks,

C

Not all beaches in Cancun are created equal. The problem with Moon Palace is that it has a seaweed problem. It is mostly associated with the Sunrise sand. The beach at the Nizuc side and the Grand side doesn't have that much of a problem. That is the reason why they hold all weddings at the Nizuc side.

Anyone has a new map of Moon Palace? I am planning to include a map for my guests in my Welcome to Mexico brochure. However, the one that my WC forwarded to me seemed old (Grand side was not even mentioned). I tried opening the one at their website but it comes out as error.

i do have an updated map with the moon grand side. Please send me your email address and I will try and see if I can send it to you.

Today, I made an attempt to start packing stuff for the wedding. I have three full bags already and still need to go get another bag to pack more stuff. I will have 4 full bags plus our luggage! I didn't realize I had this much stuff to take!

Does anyone know if the hotel will allow you to bring in your own linens (ie. tablecloths, runners, napkins?) They're trying to charge me $450 per table just for the nicer set up in addition to their regular $400+ fee per table for a private function.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
