Congratulation! Ahh this post remind me of my first post back in 08. Yes that is true your WC contacts you about 3 months before. At first I was scared about that, but believe me you cannot really do much before three months be4. That is when you will have an idea of how many guests and can plan around that.

I just focused on hiring a TA and worked on our Save the Dates.. I began looking for dresses for me and my bridesmaid. You can do all the things you have control of back home!

You do have contact with people from Miami..then another contact before your WC. So no worries.. they know what they are doing and are great to work with ! Communication may take a bit, but as long as you are somewhat organized you will be fine!

good luck

The wedding was great! Even though it rained so I got no horse ride..and the reception was moved inside.

Let me figure out how to post pics in a review :)

We were married on the 18th - That was the first day of sunshine after those 3-4 days of complete utter wetness. I don't think I've ever seen rain like that...or heard thunder like that.

We went into Cancun one of those days and the streets were very flooded!

CONGRATS!!!

If you go back a few pages on this thread (or go to my profile and look up my last few post that I wrote) I have a list of things that I put in my OOT bags and I included links for anyone's use as ideas.

Ashnic and Woodsylou...and anyone else who knows,

What is the deal with day passes for off site guests? The last of our guests to book have decided to stay offsite at the Westin. We plan to purchase their day passes, but are not sure what the restrictions are. Time on site? All inclusive for them too? Will they be able to stay for the reception dinner? Do we need to give them the money to or can we purchase for them upon their arrival...etc, etc, etc.

Just wondering what you gals have been told as tthe previous guidelines have been removed from the palaceweddings website. It now says contact your WC for details, which I plan to do after I hear from you all.

Thanks girls!!!

Hey Janelley! This is how it reads in my contract:

"If a guest is not staying at Moon Palace Resort, wedding passes for 2010 are $86.00 USD per person, per day and must be purchased for guests not staying at the resort. $44.00 Ages 4-17 / Under 4 are free. Wedding passes are guaranteed for purchase only on ceremony date. The resort will only allow the purchase of wedding passes up to a maximum of 20% of the total number of guests."

The Miami office told me that Guest Passes are good for 7am-11pm and includes all meals, snacks, drinks and use of facilities at resort (excluding room).

For my guest's information I changed the "purchased for guest" to "purchased by guest". My WC asked me that about 3-4 weeks prior to my wedding day to send her a list of names of people that are staying on and off the resort site so she would know how many to expect that would be coming from offsite. I am sure that since you have decided to pay for your guest, you can probably put it on your tab when you first meet with your wedding coordinator and give her the names of the people you are expecting....

Hope this helps!

We are also thinking about immodium/tylenol single packets, maybe bug repellant wipes (heard it can get bad at ourdoor receptions) and insulated cups that people can have the bartenders fill their drinks with instead of those plastic cups....will keep the sand out too!

When I was working on ideas my OOT Bags I just did a search for "OOT Bags" and there are SO many wonderful ideas on this site!

My bags have a Johnson & Johnson first aid kit (with extra small stuff I have added like pepto, itch cream, etc.), sewing kit, key card holder, pen & crossword book, hand sanitizer, English/Spanish book, and playing cards. I also did Koozies instead of a towel; we had them personalized at a local screen printing shop!

My goal is to have everything done and ready to go this weekend. Once I have everything, I will post some pictures.

I decided to not go with sunscreen and aloe because I know that everyone is bringing that with them.

so after all my worrying about people not booking I have a problem of someone coming I dont really want to!! He's an old school friend of H2B but he is such a liability. They went though a lot together growing up (family problems etc). He is an alcoholic and also has a drug problem (in denial) who is dreadlocking his hair (which he hasnt washed in over a year) and doesnt wash or shave. I know he will be drinking morning until night be a complete mess and will be all leachy with the female guests. Am I being a cow that I dont want him there? He also doesnt respect our home when he needs a place to crash, doesnt use coasters or puts cups/ plates etc away and eats everything in the fridge.... I know it sounds really petty. I have mentioned to H2B before this chap booked that he will need to talk to said friend about his appearance and behaviour on our wedding day. Now this chap has booked and I just dont him to bowl up drunk and swaying on the day. what shall I do? H2B will go mad if he knows how I really feel.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
