Hi,

I am getting married at the Moon Palace in October. Uncertain what to do right now with wedding favors. I do not want to have to bring it all with us. Is anyone doing them there? Or has anyone bought any through Moon Palace? I noticed on their optional services menu it lists favors.

I just noted on one of my brochures that we will be meeting at the sky bar at 6 pm to greet everyone arriving. And than I have the welcome dinner the night before the wedding.

Just curious, for those who have used the group contract did anyone of your guests use their timeshare? Did the MP honor those days?

Sky bar.. where is that located? Do you have a pic of it? My problem is I am having 60 guests..but since I am having that many..i will get the unlimited private events..so maybe once all my guests book, they will allow me to have private events so it will accommodate all 60 guests! idk!

I found out that you can Fed Ex items to Mexico and they will keep items at the Fed Ex office. I didn't know that you could do this because UPS won't hold items, you have to have an address. I plan on sending my wedding favors, and a lot of other things in advance before I get there. However, I am going to ask the 2009 bride thread if anyone has tried this before before I do so......

I just wanted to give you all a heads up...I was married last week at MP. Prior to leaving, I called my county courthouse to see what would be needed to validate the marriage license once we returned. I was told that nothing other than the certified certificate, which did not need to be translated. So, I did not bother to get one in English while in Cancun.

Unfortunately, I found out on Monday that they were the only ones who would accept the certificate in Spanish. The drivers license facility, social security office, and my bank all required it to be translated into English. I live in a small town, so I spent the better part of Monday trying to figure out how to get this done. MP offered to do it if I emailed them my certificate. The cost was $110 plus no guarantee as to how long it would take to get it back. (I have heard of some people waiting months).

Anyway, I was lucky enough to find a local translator through an Hispanic outreach center. They translated and notarized the certificate. They just asked for a donation in return. I was able to use this to get my name changed on everything today.

I had no idea it would be this complicated so I thought I would pass along the "heads up" to the rest of you!

HI, i did notice in a previous post that there is a shop on site that sells souveniours. i'm not sure how much they cost? They may sell shot glasses / cigars etc? I'm hoping they sell a little something for our male guests. I am transporting favours over but chosen quite light things, pashminas for the women with glass shell wine bottle stops and little fans, lottery scratch cards and fish shaped bottle openers that i've had engraved for the men. I really would like a shot glass and/or cigar to add to the male gifts. If anyone can advise on what is in the shop i would be very grafeful!

On another note its now 4 and a half weeks since I emailed the wedding co-ordinator with my questions. I know it was about 3 pages long but seriously 4 weeks??!! Plus some guests arent being very helpful. My BM only sent her passport off for renewal yesterday and we go in 8 weeks (they say it can take 2 months to process) I feel like I have had no support or help with planning or advice, considering I helped A LOT with my BM's wedding last year.

Some guests have decided they are coming but still havent booked (but insist they are coming) which means I have to order more favours and then get them engraved etc. One of the extra unbooked guests has informed me they are now vegetarian... i've already requested the steak house so god knows what they will be eating.

H2B isnt really helping either, he's so laid back he is horizontal ( as long as me and him are there he doesnt give 2 hoots - lovely but not helpful when trying to make descisions!!) STRESS!!!!!! i thought this was suppost to be the easy option!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
