Thank you!

I actually came across here because I asked my wedding coordinator what gazebo I was in. I will be in the Tucan Gazebo and when I searched it, I found this site!!!!

Most of our upgrades are just in the flowers. I also can't decide on if I want to do the Horse-drawn carriage or not! I am excited I did purchase my chair bows yesterday as well as palm leaf hand fans. With our wedding being in May, I thought everyone might enjoy the fans!

Our on-site weddding planner Cristina has been wonderful. She gets back to me within a few hours. I haven't had a problem with her yet.

Here is a question to all past (and future brides). Has anyone used or is using a sand unity set during their ceremony? I would like to do something, and Cristina said the sand works better than candles because it does tend to be windy. I was just wondering if they traveled ok with it. Did you have to redo it once you got back home?

I'm from Kansas City and we got 9in of snow on the first day of spring...so I have taken this morning and have been reading though all the pages.

I think I have decided to not upgrade my flowers and spring for the horse drawn carriage!

I'm getting married on May 21st, 2010...anyone else getting married that day or weekend? We will be there from 5/17 - 5/24.

Still wondering about how everyone did the sandy unity ceremony.

Hi fellow KC-MP brides! We did a sand ceremony and stuffed the top of the vase with very dense tissue paper and put it in our checked bag in the styrofoam packaging it came in. The vase survived and the tissue paper is still packed tightly in the top , but the sand settled and mixed all up. I knew we would have been better carrying it on, but we didn't want to lug everything to our honeymoon resort so sent it home with guests.

MRHOADES: Where did you get the chair bows and did you ask if they will put them on the chairs for you? How much were they? I might be purchasing sashes myself. Idk I am still deciding between diamond and free package. I asked my WC for her opinion so I am waiting for her response.

I am also planning on doing the sand ceremony. Have you priced around?

I am thinking about using a frame. If you need DIY instructions on how to do it yourself PM me because I copied how to create one in a word document.

Thanks for the tips on the sand unity. I will look into sending it home as a carry on with someone from my family when they leave a few days before us.

I found the satin chair sashes for .85 cents each at ..tableclothsfactory.com. Someone had posted them as a recommendation and they are the best price I have found. They said it wouldn't be a problem to put them on before the wedding started. We are only have 18 people there with us, so it won't be to hard to do right before.

I think I have decided to stay with the free pakage and keep the free flowers. I can't bring the flowers home with me, so I might as well not pay extra for them! LIke someone else said before, add up your extras and see if it is worth upgrading.

I have priced around on the sand unity sets...didn't realize how expensive they would be. I found one I really like at ...groomsshop.com. It's a destination one, personalized for $42.49 (w/o S&H). If I don't do that, I might try and find something at hobby lobby and just do on myself.

We are doing a sand ceremony at our wedding...I bought ours online (Add to Cart) but it looks like a heart tear drop vase that sits in a metal stand with the two side pillar vases (ours actually came with a 3rd vase for a child or parent). We got our set engraved with our monogram, wedding date and location and side vases have our first letter engraved on each. I had planned to take in the styrofoam pack it came in and carry it on the plane back with us due to the sand.

We are also doing free package, with horse drawn carriage, purchased fans (Michaels) and flowers for real touch bouquets (I'm trying to do them on my own and will let you all know how it goes after my attempt)! We are purchasing our chair sashes at (Chair Sashes- Pew Bows Ribbon - Chair Ribbons 27 colors). I've actually found LOTS of things to purchase from this website....kind of going crazy!!! LOL

I just got home from Walmart where I found our OOT bags (turquoise and white trpoical print mesh beach bag). They were on clearance for $2.00 each.....so we bought all 10 of the blue ones and a couple extra in yellow just in case! What a deal! Also, bought coil keychains from (OTC) and zippered badges (ebay) for a total of like $15 for the tip/room key carry thing.

Phew....there is so much more, but I can't remember right now! LOLOL

Talk to you all later!

BTW - The snow came here first...we got 6-10 inches at my house...but it was so wet and warm that it has pretty much all melted by now! Now they are calling for ANOTHER storm on Tuesday and WEdnesday....MORE SNOW...GO AWAY...DON'T COME BACK ANOTHER DAY! :)

Also, on the sand ceremony kit.....I picked the one I liked and googled "Heart Sand Ceremony" or something like that. Then I clicked the "Shopping Results" provided by Google and sorted by "Price Low to High". I found that the SAME sand ceremony kit ranged from $40.00 to $120.00 dpeending on which website. Of course you have to check each low price to see if engraving and shipping are included or at a different price. I purchased ours for like $60 total (included all engraving and shipping).....and it is a pretty nice one. Well worth the bucks!

Also look up COUPON CODES at Coupon codes and discounts for 50,000 online stores! RetailMeNot.com for the online stores you shop at....a lot of the times you can find coupon sodes for free shipping or percents off for the store you are buying things at. I got a 20% off for Oriental Trading Company (OTC) for the coil wrist bands just yesterday. It all adds up!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
