So many rules it would be easier to get married in Canada (whatever country you live in) first. I told my FI I want one day and one day only. His sister did two and her husband is always confused what day to celebrate. I think my FI will have a hard enough time with one date ha ha ha ha. We don't have to have blood tests in Curacao, but I just had to pay a company over $300 to legalize our documents. Thank goodness the wedding (gov't fees included) is free when you stay a certain length of time.

As for shipping - I've decided to give my OOT bags ahead of time so that they have to pack them and they don't double up on items.

I'm freaking out a little too! Our invites won't probably go out until November timeframe. We already know who is coming to Mexico so we are just sending them out to follow etiquette. We get married on Feb. 10th in Mexico and our AHR is Feb. 19th at home. That's not much time to get prepared so hopefully we are organized and get everything done in time!

Holy girl you're having the AHR quickly!!!! I was thinking 4 - 6 month after I get back.... I was freaking about that.. I must be getting old, can not do the stress. I also wanted to have an outside reception here at my house, I will probably be the last big party i have in this house as the plan is to sell it next year and downsize a little.

Where does it say you can't get married in Mexico if you are pregnant?

Guys, I have just searched the internet and I can not find anywhere that says anything about you not legally being able to get married in Mexico if you are pregnant. Just to clarify, I am not pregnant and am not planning on becoming pregnant but I am also not overly avoiding it either... My wedding is 4 months off, I'd still fit into my dress if an 'accident' should happen... lol I just want to know where you got your information re. pregnancy?

Our AHR is 2 months after the wedding. I sent my invites out in March because they had all the booking information on them - we booked early to save money. How much notice are you giving people for the AHR?

Ok here is that stupid pregnancy rule and it only pertains if you were legally married before:

                      Previously Married
                      Divorced
Each State in Mexico has slightly different laws in regard to when previously married couples may re-marry. Most places require that BOTH the bride and groom are to be are divorced (starting from the date of final divorce decree) at least one full calendar year before re-marrying.

For example, in Quintana Roo, the State where Cancun is located (one of the most popular venues), only women (not men) who have been previously married, may not re-marry there for 300 calendar days following the the date of the final decree of divorce unless during that time they have given birth or can prove "by medical dictate" that they are not pregnant.

You'll need to check with the local authorities in the State where you plan to get re-married if you have not been divorced for at least a year. Alternatively, hire the services of a wedding planner who will check this for you as part of their service.

This site has all of the crazy rules:
Getting Married in Mexico, Wedding Weddings Mexico, Wedding Planners
