Oh boy...the girls have asked me to come up with a guest list for a shower later in January. So I went through the guest list and ended up with 60 people! So I edited that list and I am still over 40....um isn't that crazy! I was thinking it should be about 20, but with the amount of close family and friends my FI and I have collected over the years (some of us have been friends since we were 5 years old) how the heck to I narrow that list down and not hurt people's feelings? How many people did you guys have at your showers?

I am not having a shower, I have asked that there not be one.. However in your case why do you need to limit who is invited? I think you should ask who you want and who you know that would love the opportunity to wish you well. I grew up with showers being something that is was an honor to be invited and people thought they were special to have the opportunity to wish a bride well in her new life . I first wedding I had a shower hosted by my ex sister inlaw there was 150 people... I was blown away....

Have you considered having separate ones for different groups...ex: friends and family at different ones. The only problem I see with that many is that it could be a little overwhelming for the person throwing it. My friend recently offered to throw a baby shower for another one of our friends and the list she gave had 65 people! After a minor panic attack she decided to recruit a couple of us to help her with it. With three of us it was no big deal, but if there's only one or two people it could get kind of pricey for food, drinks, decorations, ect. If there's several girls go for it!

That is what my mom suggested too....having two, even on the same weekend with mostly friends at one and then family at a second....I am going to talk to the FMIL and get some suggestions from her on who to invite from their side. She may think I am inviting more from their side than I need to as well.

If we did invite everyone on the same day where on earth would we have it? My mom has suggested the community hall, but then it just seems so much bigger and I am worried about it costing the girls a ton of cash.

I have a few more days to come up with the guest list, so I will keep playing with it.....It would be nice to ask them all....It was the same when I was growing up Susie....when mom got invited to one she always asked if I could come because it was such a big deal to be included and get to have a "girls event" before the wedding.

Shells I leave in 29 days the 27th of Jan. Getting a little hysterical is the only words i can use to discribe my excitement. -22 temperatures does have a way of making this feeling intensify.... Oh my brother is booking today "ALONE"...
                Have a great day ladies....

guys need your advise.as you know our 2 best friends (a married couple)are coming with us.i want to let them know how much we appreciate them coming when we first got engaged they knew we wanted a dw wedding and they said whatever wherever they want to come.they have paid £3800 which is a lot of money and i was wondering what i could do in return.i have booked/paid for spa treatments for the wedding morning and i was thinking i want to do the catermaran trip the day before the wedding so maybe could pay for that as well.

would that be enough or can you guys think of something different?

Shells I think that's plenty. Don't forget they are getting a vacation out of it too.

Susie - your stories are great. Sorry you had to deal with the crazy lady at Christmas, but you're always going to have the story to make fun of your brother with.
