Timberly - I went to her site and got a quote from her. Not sure if I want to do that or get real from the resort (they have the option of paying for more flowers).

Are most of you doing real touch (or silk) flowers?

Hi girls, good news I'm finally starting to feel a little better, but still not hundred percent.

I'm starting to feel the stress of planning, and I'm 6 months away, I can't imagine what you girls are going through with only 1-2 months! YIKES! You are all so graceful under pressure! :)

My current stress is travel arrangements, so after much frustration and deliberation with my mother, I've decided to just have my guests book separately. Most of them have already told me this is what they wish to do anyways, since they can save a lot of money that way. All the quotes I have been given by TA's are outrageous - not a little savings, but rather a large savings of 1,000 or more to go through a site like expedia or redtagvacations, etc. It's kind of disappointing because i really had wished to have everyone book together so we could be close together in the resort, but I guess we'll manage. I'm also not looking forward to having everyone asking me questions about booking, as opposed to the TA, but I guess that's what happens. I never imagined THIS would be the most stressful part of wedding planning.

I'm just trying to remember that no matter what happens, it will be an awesome time and trying not to stress about the little details - but it's hard not to!!

Susie - sorry to hear of your difficulties with stepdaughter, I might have strangled her with that straigtener cord...you are a strong woman! :)

Brooke - YAY for FREE TV!! That's awesome!!

Shells - sorry to hear about your car accident. I'm glad you are okay though!

Raykel, I can understand your situation with FI and trying to get opinions, input, etc.

My FI usually says uh-huh, that sounds great honey, it's your day whatever you want....blah, blah, blah....URRRGGHHHH!! Sometimes I just wanna shake him till he gives me his opinion! I think my biggest fear is I will do all this planning and preparing, and then when we get down there, someone will say, oh this would have been better if...or that's great but it would be better with this....and then I'll probably either a) scream or B) cry...

sometimes I feel like I'm all alone in this, and then I remember all my wonderful February brides who are here to help, console, and give advice!

You guys are awesome!!!

Krista H - I totally know how you feel about the stress thing too - I hate when people say - don't stress, blah blah blah, but they can't understand what you are going through! sometimes, it's nice to just have a listening ear...you know?

I'm also thinking about real touch flowers - I like the idea of having them afterwards as a keepsake. I want to write my own ceremony, but not sure how much I can change or include, since we are doing the legal one.

Anyway, now that I've vented....sorry ladies. I must be stressed from this cold, going back to work, and all this travel arrangement crap....

Those look great!!

I am going with the free bouquet and bout for me and hubby which I was able to choose 24 black magic roses for my bouquet. I need roses on Vday!!! he always gives me 2 dozen red roses and my wedding day should not be any different :). I ordered 2 BM bouquets, corsages for the moms, bouts for the Groomsmen for $50. THe BM bouquets are $30 and $45 at my resort and though my girls are special to me I would rather pay $15 for real touch bouquets (same size as the $30 bouquets from resort) for them. They can hold on to them after the ceremony or I can take them afterwards and sell them lol. I can't take any real flowers back on the plane as it is not allowed from Mexico.. I don't see the reason to waste the money on real flowers that you will have to throw away before you leave. Unless you are brave enough to attempt to smuggle them back home. I have heard of brides doing this, but I haven't heard nice things about Mexican jails so I won't risk it...hahaha

I completely understand.. I also decided to let my guests handle their own travel arrangements.. the average savings for my group was $700 by doing their own arrangements. I think the guests will be fine. When you use an agent you could still end up getting scattered around the resort. Also, having a little separation from your guests could be a good thing when you look at the grand scheme of things, it is you wedding time and also precious bonding time with your honey.. who wants drunk uncle ralph knocking on the door playing games at 3 in the am? lol

I referred my guest to the site www.bookit.com. THey had some of the best packages when compared to the popular travel sites.

I am thinking about going with Real Touch flowers as well. I have found a lady in Calagary that seems to be reasonably priced...she is going to send me some sample flowers so I can make sure I like them. I would like to have the fresh flowers included in the package, but this way I get the flowers I want at a far better price and then we can use them again here for the AHR. I think what I will do is have them take the money from the included bouquet and bout and put that towards a couple of centre pieces for the wedding ceremony and then the reception afterwards. I am not sure how to attach the link, but it is called budgetbride.com if you guys want to have a look.

Susie....I would want to kill her too.....I like the idea of throwing the breaker. I have an ex....(like when we were 20 years old) and he used to take these really long showers which drove his dad nuts. So if he was in there longer than 10 mins his dad would go and shut off the hot water valverofl.gif You can imagine the yell that came up from the basement.

Teneil.....some people have no class. Its one thing to tell you not to stress it will all work out and offer to help out - but otherwise people need to shut up. Until they are doing what you are doing and feeling what you feel they have no idea. Honestly - I thought this was no biggie....buy the ticket, tell the family and friends and go. Oy! Was I wrong...lol.... Thank gosh for this site because now it will be so much more.

Krista....I told FI about your blackberry - and he started laughing and promptly told me the ipod does that too....now it is sitting beside me making farting noises every 15 seconds. lol...toys....

Hello all,

I am not new to the site..I pop on and read all the posts every once in a while..I have been on here tonight reading all your posts..

I am getting married 02-20-2010 at Aventura Spa Palace. I already have my dress and our rings... I bought DIY message in a bottle invites... and have not sent any out just

because I feel seriously frustrated with the people I am inviting. I keep getting calls to

look up flights as well as check rates for hotels... I have also gotten..I dont want to go to Mexico...or its to expensive...I just feel like Helloooo I am not a travel agent! I wanted a destination wedding to avoid the stress of who doesnt want to sit with who and if so and so is coming I wont be coming! Yet..here I am stressing!

Anyways, I also see alot of you ladies are having a reception when you go home. My hubby to be would like to have a casual party, we are thinking a big barbeque/clambake when the weather is warmer.. Are you sending out an additional invitations? Kinda like a wedding announcement and please come and join the festivities? I also see your bringing OOT bags as well as some silk flower bouquets. How are you getting most of this stuff to your destinations? Extra suitcase or a broker? My wedding planner suggested a broker.. but I figured I would pay the extra $25 for an extra suitcase.

Are you giving OOT gift bags and a gift at your wedding?

I still need shoes, jewerly, an outfit for the groom and groomsmen... and all my OOT bag gifts. My bridesmaids are pretty much taken care of...I guess I should send out some invitations as well LOL..

Any advice you ladies have would be greatly appreciated!!! As well as anything else I might have missed that I might need!

Kim :-)

Hello and welcome to the thread!!

Time is of the essence at this point. Have you sent out save the dates? I would definitely mail out those invites ASAP. For a destination wedding, I wouldn't want to get an invite a month before I was set to travel. Have you received positive responses along with the negative? I hope so, if you did, focus on those and try not to give the naysayers any of your positive energy. This time can be stressful enough without bearing the burden of all of the negative energy people are putting out. Your day will and should ultimately be about you. If no one shows up but your FI then you will still have the most important guest possible!

As far as shoes and last minute things that you have to complete, I will pass on some really good advice that Shellk gave me a long time ago. Make a list in order of priority and check things off as you complete them.

I plan on paying the extra bag charge if I have to. I would rather pay and know that my items are arriving when I need them to.

Hi and thank you for the quick reply!

I have not sent any invitations out just because of the negative comments...especially from his mom..she is driving me insane!! As for the positive those were from my friends who just booked the trip without even getting the invitation.. I will send some out this week...

Good idea on the list.. I will do that in the morning... as you can see its very late..but I am so stressing and thinking of a million things.. that I cant sleep!!

I thought about paying the extra charge also just to know my stuff is there as soon as I am there.. at this point though its coming with me...I also inquired about favors and such at the hotel... a fan that you can buy for 89 cents on wedding channel they sell for $10 and they are ugly! So I getting my favors here and bringing them with me..

Are you having a private reception at your hotel? Or in a restaurant? I have the option for both and havent chosen that either..but they did tell me I could choose three days before the wedding..so I was waiting to see how many people come and then I would decide... a reception is only $500 and few added on extras for certain things..nothing like if we were having it here in New York... If I do it in one of there restaurants I was going to get pretty napkins and some table favors I dont even know what to get!! I was just curious as to what people are doing when they get to there Destinations.

Thanks for your help!!

Kim :-)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
